4.0 out of 5 stars So-so compilation from a great band, September 24, 2008

The leather nun were a fantastic band bith on record and live. They made an incredible string of early singles, most of which are here. The problem I had at least with my version of this CD is that the sound is very thihn: on the records (45 or 33) the Leather Nun had a HUGE sound. Here it is too shrill. It does contain some incredible stuff such as Desolation Avenue which also must be heard live....that is really something. Jonas A the singer was one of the great figures in the Swedish direct post-punk era and had this really scary tough attitude together with the intelligence of a studied man. Awesome. They went on to make almost no bad LPs. There is another recent compilation that is more complete since it contains gems such as FFF but unfortunately it is a 2 CD set with one being live...OK they were great live but there was even a better live LP that was released in the 80's. Anyway I complain too much. They are one of my favourite bands, they made a string of great songs such as Prime MOver...Only on the album with Pink houses did they go somewhat wrong. The probolem is that this is a compilation taht covers only the first but greater part of their career and thus you only get part of a great story.
