A conspiracy so plausible it will linger long after the novel's shocking conclusion.

FREEZING POINT (Karen Dionne, an RT Best First Mystery Nominee)
The polar icecaps are melting--fast. In a drowning, desperate world, the Soldyne Corporation sees an opportunity: Melt Antarctic icebergs into drinking water using a microwave satellite array, ship the water to thirsty nations around the globe, and make a fortune. But deep within the ice waits an enemy more deadly than anyone could imagine--and an apocalyptic horror Earth may not survive.

INDISPENSABLE PARTY (Melissa F Miller, USA Today Bestselling Author)
After international researchers create a virus capable of killing millions, the U.S. government quietly stockpiles a vaccine even as doomsday preppers mobilize. Then the virus is stolen and a researcher murdered. Now attorney Sasha McCandless and Leo Connelly, new security officer for the vaccine manufacturer, have just three days to stop the release of the ultimate biochemical weapon.

VOLCANO WATCH (Toni Dwiggins, Amazon Bestselling Author)
NO WAY OUT--so says the note in the pocket of Mammoth Lakes' murdered mayor. The volcano beneath the town is seething, and the emergency planner in charge, Adrian Krom, has his own agenda. Tracking mineral clues to discover how the mayor died, forensic geologist Cassie Oldfield races to prevent 'no way out' from becoming a prophecy even as the volcano moves toward red alert.

SECTOR C (Phoenix Sullivan, Amazon Top 100 Novel)
A rise in stroke-like cases has CDC analyst Mike Shafer heading for North Dakota. There, veterinarian Donna Bailey is dealing with an outbreak of her own. As government agencies move to contain the growing threats, Mike and Donna's search for Patient Zero leads to a shocking discovery at a big-game compound. But even if they can escape with the secret of Sector C, it may already be too late.

THE RIFT (Walter Jon Williams, Nebula Award Winner)
Not all fracture lines originate in dangerous earthquake zones. Others are social--economic, religious, racial, and ethnic. After a devastating earthquake strikes along the New Madrid faultline in the US heartland, Jason Adams finds himself adrift on the Mississippi with African-American engineer Nick Ruford. A modern-day Huck and Jim, they spin helplessly down the river, encountering violence and hope, compassion and despair, and the primal wilderness that threatens to engulf not only them, but all they love...

5.0 out of 5 stars For anyone who loves a good disaster story June 8, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
I'm a sucker for a good disaster story and this collection serves up an enticing selection! I'm definitely picking it up.

Meanwhile, I've already read VOLCANO WATCH and posted a review that I'll repost here:.

In 1997, two volcano movies were released: Volcano (which almost cries out for a 1970s-style exclamation point in the title) and Dante's Peak. Dwiggins' novel, Volcano Watch, is better than either of them, possibly better than both put together. The next time Hollywood decides the public is hungry for a thriller about murder and magma, they need to call Toni Dwiggins.

I thought that Dwiggins' "Forensic Geology" series got off to a strong start with Badwater (to which I gave four stars). This second book in the series is deeper and more exciting, bringing Dwiggins' main character, Cassie Oldfield, to a critical decision in her life.

Volcano Watch is an exciting, character-driven thriller, fast-paced, in which a mountain blows up. What more could you want?

For just 99 cents, you get six books by best-selling authors that know how to tell a tale and keep you on the edge of your seat – as well as entertain you for the equivalent of six cents per hour.

Take Toni Dwiggins’ book, Volcano Watch, which is included in this box set. This was my first Tony Dwiggins book to read, and I look forward to reading more from her. She spins a pretty tight tale filled with a lot of research that doesn't bore you to tears, gets you into the heart and mind of the main character, and has you feel real emotion as the characters lose their loved ones and their possessions. What I really liked was the hard left turn she took on the "whodunit" aspect of the book, as it was not something you can typically figure out as in other books about halfway through.

As I type this review the price for Volcano Watch on an individual basis is $2.99 - it is well worth $2.99 and very entertaining – but seeing as how you can get Volcano Watch plus the others for just 99 cents, it’s a no-brainer if you enjoy a good mystery / thriller.

5.0 out of 5 stars Indispensable Party June 6, 2014
By Shannon
Format:Kindle Edition
Indispensable Party, the fourth book in the Sasha McCandless series, continues the five star trend. This book, like the others, drew me in from the first chapter. This book's completely believable plot kept me on the edge of my seat wondering "what if" and realizing that the story line was all too possible. I found myself gripping my Kindle tightly as I turned the pages as fast as my eyes could read. The book explores what might happen killer virus ends up in the hands of a survivalist group bent on proving to the world there is legitimacy in their survivalist ways. The twists and turns in the story, along with the peeks into the lives of her characters, had me focused on nothing more than seeing her characters through the precarious situation they find themselves in. In the end, my only regret was starting the book too late in the evening as it had me up, gripped by the story, until well past my "bed time." Five brilliant stars for Mrs. Miller on another fabulous book!

5.0 out of 5 stars What a Disastrous Deal! (Tongue Firmly In Cheek) June 9, 2014
By DrPat
Format:Kindle Edition
Natural disasters make a great theme for a thriller, and this collection has six novels based on this theme! So for a pittance, you can get some outstanding reading lined up for your summer vacation.

I've read two of the novels in this collection, so I suspect the other four will be of equal caliber. Toni Dwiggins' "Volcano Watch" rides on the valid geological premise "there is no such thing as an extinct volcano". The magma chamber may be too deep or too cool to concern us on the surface, the pressure may be adequately relieved by vents elsewhere in a field, but if a volcano has erupted once, there is always a potential for it to erupt again. Toni Dwiggins takes the "extinct" volcano that formed the crater in which Mammoth Lake, CA, is located, and spins it into a threat to the hometown of Cassie Oldfield and Walter Shaw, forensic geologists. (We met them in Dwiggins' previous novels, "Badwater" and "Quicksilver".)

It isn't only the volcano that is heating up - tensions within the town threaten to derail sensible efforts to evacuate or combat the potential for eruption. If you've ever lived in a small town with one or two industries (especially seasonal industries), the political infighting in this novel will ring true!

Once again, in "Volcano Watch" Dwiggins has provided an intensely satisfying thriller that combines a human and a geologic threat with edge-of-the-seat pacing. The level of scientific explanation was just right for me, while the way she incorporated volcanic precursors and eruptive action was realistic.

What in the world could come next for Cassie and Walter? I can't wait!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great deal for 6 books! June 9, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
I read the first book in this bundle, Upon a Pale Horse by Russell Blake, and loved it. It's a fast-paced thriller with a plot that seems more like truth than conspiracy.

Looking forward to reading the other five books. What a great deal at 99 cents!

Fascinating look into areas we usually don't take into consideration. Characters are usually excellent and the plots work well with the "disaster" that is being portrayed. Read more
