5.0 out of 5 stars Maybe You Deserve This Album... Seriously
Contrary to what others may say, Tank IS a Force of Nature. His style, his voice, his lyrics - they all form a new kind of talent. Off the top, it may seem that Tank is just another run-of-the-mill R&B artists following the "booty-this booty-that" supercliched mold that many, many others before him have hid behind throughout their careers. 2.0 out of 5 stars Hard to sit through
I'll just let everyone know right now that the only decent song on this album is "Maybe I Deserve". It has good vocals, and it successfully has Tank telling us how he deserves his woman to do him wrong after he did HER wrong. It's one of the only ballads on this album, but the only one worth your while. "Slowly" tries to capture listeners with its D'Angelo-esque feel and...

But once I got a closer listen, I was blown away. The talent is flowing from this guy in every direction. Granted, most of his tracks are "club ready", but that's not to say they still aren't great tracks. However, I strongly believe that Tank shines more on his slower tracks. "Maybe I Deserve" is a very innovative song about trust and betrayal - with a twist. "Slowly" is the perfect song to play with your girl (or guy) after a long stressful day - you don't need to talk or think about it, just play it and let the music move you... "Kill 4 You" is also another standout track. It explains just that - how sometimes your love for someone can be so strong that you WOULD kill for them. The remix to "Maybe I Deserve" also stood out with me. It's the same lyrics (switched up a little) placed to a more uptempo beat. (His harmonies on this song, and the rest of the CD as well, are AMAZING.) Overall, I can see that Tank's gonna be here for a little while.

If you're feelin' Jaheim's "Ghetto Love", Koffee Brown's "Mars/Venus", Jon B.'s "Pleasures U Like" or Musiq's "Aijuswanaseing", you'll definately like Tank.

(For all who claim not to like this guy, I DARE you to listen to "Kill 4 You" or "Slowly" and I guarantee that this album will be in your collection in no time...)

5.0 out of 5 stars Force of Nature, May 25, 2001
This review is from: Force of Nature (Audio CD)
Tank's Force of Nature is a great cd. He has a very distinct and beautiful voice, that expresses many emotions and reaches out to the listeners and grabs their attention. There is a lot of male R&B singers out there, but Tank stands on his own as an individual. Maybe I Deserve is one of the most compelling songs I've heard this year in R&B, really great song. This album is perfect for any mood, whether you want to party, relax, or just have some quiet time, this is the cd you want. You wont regret this purchase!

4.0 out of 5 stars Tank runs on an almost full Tank, April 11, 2001

I have to say when i first brought this CD i really wasnt feeling it to much.. However after a few more listening to it .. It started to grow on me .. There is no question Tank have the vocal skills he has a very good voice, he has a voice that cant be compared to any one else he has own style.. Tank shines on such cuts as the current single Maybe I Deserve, Cant Get Down, Lady On My Block, the slow burning ballad Slowly which is the best song on the CD this song will remind you of Prince at his best on a ballad .. Put Your Hands Up a funky uptempo cut showing that Tank can do the uptempo tunes as well as he can do the slow tunes.. Kill 4 You, Street Life all these songs are very good.. However at times the CD gets bog down with sub-par material like What What , Designiated Driver, Bounce and Grind.. Nevertheless the good outweighs the bad on this CD.. Tank deserves a listen.. Hopefully on his next album it will be more consistent.. Tank is certainly on his way to be a force in the music business

TIGHT!!! TIGHT!!!! TIGHT!!! That's the best way to describe this disc. All of the songs are tight especially the lead single "Maybe I Deserve"(which got me hooked from the get go), but the album really belongs to him on tracks like "Kill 4 You",Lady on my block", What What What, Get Your Hands Up, and Freaky. Tank Is on some sh!t and it's funky.....Keep Bangin' Dawg

2.0 out of 5 stars Hard to sit through, October 1, 2002
This review is from: Force of Nature (Audio CD)
I'll just let everyone know right now that the only decent song on this album is "Maybe I Deserve". It has good vocals, and it successfully has Tank telling us how he deserves his woman to do him wrong after he did HER wrong. It's one of the only ballads on this album, but the only one worth your while. "Slowly" tries to capture listeners with its D'Angelo-esque feel and `70s-style background vocals, but the lyrics are less than stellar. Also, the song fades out completely at one point, so you'll assume that the song is over, but then the music comes back for some reason.

It's hard to enjoy badly-written stories like "Lady On My Block", failed party starters like "What What What" and "Throw Your Hands Up", and disorganized shouting and music in tracks like "Bounce & Grind" and "Kill 4 You". Also, the violin trills in "Let It Go" are enough to drive you insane. Until that moment, I didn't know there was a way to badly play a string instrument.

The only reason I gave this album two stars instead of one is because Tank can sing, but it may be hard to tell with the bad production. Put your money in a savings account instead.

Tank's album "Force of Nature" is really good in my perspective! The new single "Slowly" is only the beginning of what he can do. From hype joints like "What What What" to slow and sensual ballads like the new single "Slowly", "Force of Nature" is a wonderful album to have.

2.0 out of 5 stars ...ouch..., August 19, 2001
This review is from: Force of Nature (Audio CD)
maybe this deserves to be better...'deserve' is the best and only song worth repeated listening...maybe because it's the only song that tank wrote and produced himself...he must owe the other producers some past favors to have let them put those mediocre beats on here...plus i got tired of tank shouting them out at the start of some of his songs (i guess he wanted us to know who to blame for those tracks)....on the upside, brotha tank has an excellent voice, kinda reminds me of some jeffrey osborne. the lyrics are a disappointment, sounds like some songs that destiny's child might'a rejected which is saying a lot!

5.0 out of 5 stars He Deserves 5 Stars, August 10, 2002

Tank has an excellent voice and an amazing body. On his debut CD, he talks about the serious stuff as well as the playful stuff. I hate to choose favorites on this CD, but if I had to choose, my favorite song would be "Kill 4 You". Just like the title says, Tank would kill for his girl, as well as do time for her. Now that's love. He set it off with his honest first single "Maybe I Deserve". He told the ladies just what they wanted to hear. His second single, "Slowly", is a piano driven make-love song. His video showed off his acting abilities as well as his ripped muscles. The club-driven tunes, "Throw Your Hands Up" and "Let It Go" show that Tank isn't afraid to boogie. Taking on a serious role, the song "Lady On My Block" shows Tank painting a picture of a single mother living her life. This is R&B at it's best. Go out and get this CD if you don't have it already.

3.0 out of 5 stars craving more..., March 20, 2001

That's what you'll be doing after listening to Force of Nature. Don't get it twisted, the prior reviewer who said that Tank's vocals are mediocre must be an instrumentalist. Any vocalists listening to the project definitely has some homework. I will say, however, that this is just the tip of the iceberg for Tank. Look for him to explore more of his artistic side and expose more of his "soul" in future offerings. He shows us on this project that he can do everything your favorite R&B artists can do... better than they can do it. Next album, we want to see what Durrell Babbs can do. Until then, the DC Metro will enjoy "Tank" and keep the project in high demand.
