This review is from: Forced March (Audio CD)
This cd "Forced March" by Madagascar is quite an experience. Listening to it transports you to a different time and or place. For me, I think of either european music from the middle ages or some odd instrumental cajun music depending on the song.
The combination of instruments used on this cd make it quite unique as they use a musical saw, acordians, bass, and various other instruments including a glockenspiel. This combination creates a presence which I have never experienced before nor heard replicated. I would not concider the music of this cd to be ambient because it is more robust than typical ambient music. However, the music finds the perfect compromise of dynamics and soft melodies which place it somewhere in between ambient and folk music genres. This balance makes the cd quite perfect background music for a night's cruise in the country or in any other situation where you would want to supplement an experience but not dominate it. If you enjoy listening to calm music as you ponder the mysteries of the universe then this would probably be the cd for you. I enjoyed this cd thoroughly and would reccomend it to everyone.
