Lovely Gytha Sullivan learns on her grandfather's death that she will inhert a huge fortune ...along with the Devil's choice of marriage to one of her detestable cousins. In desperation, Gytha begs Lord Locke, her dauntingly handsome country neighbor, to help her. Because Gytha's father had once saved his life, he agrees to help. The two plan an ingenious charade, but their make-believe turns to tender love. The cousins, for their part, will not accept defeat and kidnap Gytha.
