This book is basically the same one published by Chilton that covers Ford Escorts up to about 1995. The title indicates that up to 1999 models are covered. Buyer beware! It does have OK material and photos for earlier 1.8 and 1.9 liter engines. However 2.0 liter engine information is lacking (i.e. late models 1997-1999). For example, jobs on 1.8 and 1.9 liter engines contain instructions and photographs for reference. 2.0 liter engines recieve terse comments and occasionally, crude cartoon drawings that are generally worthless. Adding several pages of new material is less than a revision in this case and does not justify a title change. Look elswhere for late model Ford Escort information.

Tells me almost everything I need to know about my '97 Escort Wagon. A must have.

Like many Chilton's manuals, these are more for someone with a bit of experience beforehand. If you are not familiar with working on cars in advance, this book might give you just enough information to start screwing stuff up before you end up taking it to a garage anyway.

Chilton as the the earlier reviewer focuses here on early model Fords. I have the 1.9L 1991 Escort, and the simple step-by-step instructions guide me through the repairs (mostly replacement of worn parts) very well. My mechanic friends all reccomend Chilton.

Since I own a 96 Escort that I have been keeping in good condition with constant care, I wanted a repair manual so I may do some of the more difficult repairs myself if need be. This book is easy to read, easy to follow and has everything anyone would need to keep their car in great shape.

Great seller-book is in very good condition. This series of auto maintenance and repair manuals are excellent, for the most part. Things are explained mostly in layman's terms, rather then being very technical. I was disappointed that I was unable to find the location of a potentially defective part, because of the terminology, although with the help of a mechanic I was successful.

Bought this book as a reference to assist with troubleshooting and
making small repairs. I found the book to be well layed out and quite descriptive. It has worked well for me thus far.

This is good good help for a lot of minor fixes and problems. Some instructions are however not very clear.
