Excellent Product,
This review is from: Ford Explorer & Mercury Mountaineer: 2002 through 2003 (Chilton Automotive Books) (Paperback)
As always, Chilton's produces a magnificent product. I've used Chilton's guides in the past because of their accuracy, depth, and reliability, with this one providing more of the same. If you've never purchased a Chilton's before, take comfort that the higher price tag is well worth it. These manuals usually cost more than a Hayne's, however they provide much more information. Inside you will find everything from the routine oil change or transmission flush, to how to replace a bent crankshaft. The book is clearly designed for both the beginner do-it-yourselfer as well as a seasoned auto mechanic, with clear and precise instructions on how to accomplish any task. While sizes of certain sockets and wrenches may or may not be listed, the knowledge contained within this book outweighs the competition by far. It even includes a convenient list of areas to inspect/maintain, including the mileage/date in which it should be done. Highly recommended for any vehicle owner who wishes to keep their vehicle on the road for years to come.

Chilton's Manual,
By Jim Madden (Kirkland, WA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ford Explorer & Mercury Mountaineer: 2002 through 2003 (Chilton Automotive Books) (Paperback)
Bought this manual to help fix an electrical problem with my keyless entry/memory seats/auto lights. The manual covers mechanical repairs in the most detail. Has a black box approach to the wiring, but does not cover the Limited version which has the memory functions. Does not have the locations of the different control modules identified and calls some of the modules different names than the Ford manuals.

Chiltons Auto Repair Manual-Ford Explorer,

This review is from: Ford Explorer & Mercury Mountaineer: 2002 through 2003 (Chilton Automotive Books) (Paperback)
I have used Chilton manuals for many years and have found them to have excellent coverage of their subject. This one is no exception. I purchased this manual along with Haynes manual as they compliment each other. I would be hard pressed to make a choice between the two.
