5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Mustang Book!
Pat Covert's newest book, Ford Mustang 1964-1/2 to 1973, is a must-have for your collection. Some of the most beautiful Mustang photos I've ever seen grace its pages, and unlike any other Mustang book I've seen, Pat's book has the original color option sheets for each model year of the first generation. If you're a Mustang fan, I guarantee you'll like it!

3.0 out of 5 stars I expected original cars in an "originality guide".
I am mostly interested in the 71-73 models so I only speak here about that section of the book. I was expecting an "originality guide" and I feel this book could have been better. Originality begins with the cars that are being photographed. When I see cars that are poorly assembled, have after market parts, pitted chrome, rusted parts and downright incorrect striping...

1.0 out of 5 stars Wow Disappointed No Mechanical Information, Over Priced, November 6, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Ford Mustang 1964 1/2 to 1973: Originality Guide for Restorers and Scale Builders (Musclecar Tech) (Paperback)
Save your money there are better books out there on old Mustangs that actually give some detail and pictures of Mechanical stuff. This book focuses on the exterior body, trim, and interior and for the most part ignores every thing else. For under $25, I could have got all of the information provided in this book and more.

3.0 out of 5 stars I expected original cars in an "originality guide"., September 1, 2008

Originality begins with the cars that are being photographed. When I see cars that are poorly assembled, have after market parts, pitted chrome, rusted parts and downright incorrect striping schemes I lose confidence in the book. There are better cars out there that could have been used. I would have preferred paying more for a higher quality book. On the plus side, this book does have a good year-by-year description of options and more interior photos than is usually found in other books.

2.0 out of 5 stars Less than impressed, May 29, 2007
By
This review is from: Ford Mustang 1964 1/2 to 1973: Originality Guide for Restorers and Scale Builders (Musclecar Tech) (Paperback)
I recently purchased this book primarily due to the positive reviews of this book. I was sorely disappointed. While the book does have good descriptions of the different models, what I was interested in were the pictures of the 1967 Fastbacks. I am in the process of restoring one and good clear pictures of the different components are what I needed. In the chapter for the 1967 production year there were 28 pictures. These 28 include coupes, convertibles, and fastbacks. There were several pics of the interiors, but if you were only going by this book you would believe that 1967 cars have no back seats, as none are shown. The 1967 chapter does have a few good pics of the exteriors and numerous close ups of wheels and the engine compartment and the gas cap. The problem is, for example, if you want to see a picture of the brake drums, you have to look at the chapter on 1969 or if you want to see a steering wheel, you have to look at 1965. Neither is the same on a '67, so these pics are useless. To be done right pics should have been taken of the same components from different year models. If a brake drum is shown for 1969, show it for all models. I wouldn't mind spending a few more dollars for a book that actually lives up to its title.

5.0 out of 5 stars A work of impressive detail, "Ford Mustang 1964 1/2 - 1973" is a 'must', March 5, 2007
This review is from: Ford Mustang 1964 1/2 to 1973: Originality Guide for Restorers and Scale Builders (Musclecar Tech) (Paperback)
Part of the Specialty Press 'Musclecar Tech' series, "Ford Mustang 1964 1/2 - 1973" by Pat Covert covers the finishes, materials, and parts for each year of the popular Mustang and enables dedicated restorers to bring their Mustang back to authentic, mint condition. Profusely illustrated throughout, "Ford Mustang 1964 1/2 - 1973" provides detailed views of the car body, including the chassis and undercarriage, drivetrain and engine bay, as well as the interior. Straight profile, front and reader views are printed to scale. Informative sidebars include production numbers, performance figures, paint, trim, and interior codes and colors. A work of impressive detail, "Ford Mustang 1964 1/2 - 1973" is a 'must' for car fans in general, and Mustang restorers in particular.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ford Mustang 1964-1/2 to 1973, September 26, 2005

Overall a nice picture reference. Only Mustang book I've seen with undercarriage references along with wheel hub and brake photos. Lacks descriptions of option packages (i.e. what you get with a Mach 1 or a GT or how to identify same).

Many photos are of cars that are not concours and have aftermarket ac compressors or radios. Still, it's a valuable resource of photos to help in the restoration process and good addition to the Mustang library.

If you are an owner or an enthusiast(or,both)of 1964-1/2 to 1973 Mustangs then this book should be in your book collection. Some of the most beautiful Colour photos throughout, colour charts, decoding charts, engines, etc.Every year model is covered in great detail.Covers:GT,Boss 302's & Boss 429's,Shelby,Mach1,etc.Printed on high quality-glossy paper. For value and quality, this book is a bargain and one of 2 of the best books on the first generation Mustang's I have ever seen.

This book should be as legendary as the Mustang's themselves. This book is superb!Hopefully, the publishers will keep this book in print. And,they cover the later generations in a book of their own.Didnt waste my time trying to find faults in this book,I was too busy enjoying it.

If you have a Mustang lover in your family or you married one,buy them a copy or 2 of this book. Then, read it together.

This is the other book on 1st generation Mustang's I recommend:
"Mustang 1964-1/2-1973".By Mike Mueller.(ISBN:0-7603-0734-2).
