Book Description

February 3, 2001
Fords of the Fifties is a book about Ford Motor Company and its cars during the 1950s -- the romantic decade of chrome, fins and dual exhausts. Much of the photography is by author Mike Parris. Original photographs and information from the archives of Ford Motor Company, Henry Ford Museum & Greenfield Village and the Detroit Library's National Automotive Collection are also featured in this must-have book for any classic car enthusiast. Parris blends a behind-the-scenes story of Ford Motor Company's survival and comeback from 1949 to 1959 with these beautiful images, interviews and details of classic Fords.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Book Around About Fords of the 50's!, July 28, 2002
This review is from: Fords of the Fifties (Paperback)
This is a must-have book if you're a Ford classic car buff--or a 50's fan. Author Mike Parris has a way with words--and pictures. Parris provides the pertinent (and most interesting) facts and stories behind Ford cars of the fab 50's, gleaned from research as well from interviews with some of the decade's key Ford execs. Included: behind-the-scenes info that brings the auto scene of the era to life. Photos are from premiere Detroit auto library collections--but also include Mike Parris' original (and outstanding) photography. (I especially love the pics of the Woodies, wood-sided station wagons that came and went with bobby-sox--seems they weren't practical once put to the test--but talk about a look that's gotten funky-cool with age!) Also included: some of the fun and nostalgic advertising of the era. This book is a visual treat and captures the golden glow of one of FoMoCo's fabbest decades.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Book on Fifties Fords!, February 27, 2008
This review is from: Fords of the Fifties (Paperback)
What a Decade the 1950's and what a car the Ford! This is a Must book for fifties car buffs and Ford car buffs. The whole decade comes alive with beautiful color pictures, facts, prices, stories on every Ford from 1949 to 1959. It takes you through the 50s one year at a time and as a Baby Boomer it brought back so many wonderful memories of a Golden Era that will never be repeated. I cherish this book and regard it as one of the best ever written.
