5.0 out of 5 stars Most accessible single from "Countdown" and the classic Megadeth lineup, October 24, 2008
This review is from: Foreclosure of a Dream (Audio CD)
The second single release from Megadeth's 1992 masterpiece, "Countdown to Extinction," is by far their most accessible single to date. Following the smash hit, "Symphony of Destruction" (also from "Countdown") Megadeth continued to release top-selling singles well into the 1990's and beyond.

"Foreclosure of a Dream" is a song that perfectly captures the essence of Megadeth in the early 1990's, following their transition from "thrash metal innovators" to "commercial metal kings." (Now former) guitarist, Marty Friedman, is in fine form here, as he blasts through a live version of "Countdown" opener, "Skin O' My Teeth" and a special industrial mix of "Symphony of Destruction," which was mixed by Trent Reznor (of Nine Inch Nails fame) along with Megadeth founder and creator, Dave Mustaine.

Drummer, Nick Menza, and long-time bassist, David Ellefson, also shine on this particular "maxi-single" release. There are two fine versions of the title track included on this CD. The first being the original LP version contained on 1992's "Countdown to Extinction" and the radio edit version that was partly used for the accompanying music video, which came out during the time of the single's initial release. This fine video can be seen on the 2-DVD compilation, "The Arsenal of Megadeth" released two years ago. I highly recommend this extended, maxi-single to anyone devoted to this (now 25 year old) classic band.

Skin O' My Teeth [Live] (*****)

Symphony of Destruction [Remix] (*****)

- All tracks originally appeared on "Countdown to Extinction" ('92)

3.0 out of 5 stars Warning, there are multiple versions of this CD, February 2, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Foreclosure of a Dream (Audio CD)
Warning: There is more than one version of this CD. The Trent Reznor remix is only on the European import of this CD, not the domestic version. The other review of this CD talks about this remix but it was not on the one I bought and Amazon does not distinguish between different versions. Unless you contact the seller, there is no way to determine which version it is. If you are trying to collect all the Trent Reznor remixes, this one is really difficult to find. Also be warned, there is more than one version of the Puff Daddy Victory single and sadly I first bought the version without the Reznor remix.
