Brian at his best!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Foreign Affairs [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Brian Dennehy and Joanne Woodward seem exact opposites--but, oh, how they attract! The development of their relationship through seriousness and humor is wonderful. It makes you cry and laugh. Truly one of the best movies either of them ever made.

I bought this video because i am a big fan of joanne woodward and like others have difficulty finding dvd's of her films. Anyway this film did not disapoint she and brian denehy turn in wonderful performances as the two middle-aged american strangers on a trip to the uk. This is a gentle story about two people getting to know one another faults and all and falling in love along the way, a very good film a recommend it.

I have always been a fan of both Brian Dennehy and Joanne Woodward, but what I like the most about this movie, is how they show two middle-aged people falling in love- imperfect bodies, awkwardness, and all. I recall a sub plot involving Eric Stoltz, but the chemistry and honesty between the two main characters makes this one of my favorite movies.

Why didn't they release this good movie on DVD?,

Made in 1993, I thought this was a very good movie and wish they would release it on DVD. I've always liked Brian Dennehy (In Broad Daylight)and Joanne Woodword (Three Faces of Eve). In this movie they get to show off some comedic talents but the movie is also a drama. Joanne and Brian meet on a flight to England, and Joanne, tries to ignore Brian who she finds annoying. Later on they meet while in England and Joanne keeps trying to avoid Brian, but eventually she gets to know him and realizes what a nice guy he is. The movie has some funny parts and some sad, but always interesting. I hope a film studio see this movie and release it on DVD. They put it on VHS, and need to put it on DVD. Its better than a lot of junky movies you see on DVD.
