5.0 out of 5 stars Forensic Nursing, September 12, 2005
This review is from: Forensic Nursing, 1e (Hardcover)
This book is a complete overview of many new fields available to the Forensic Nurse. The text is comprehensive and the photography plates are also a valuable tool. For the student an excellent textbook, for the Forensic nurse an excellent resource guide to his/her field.

4.0 out of 5 stars A knowlegable compilation, February 7, 2006
This review is from: Forensic Nursing, 1e (Hardcover)
They call Virginia Lynch the godmother of forensic nursing. Her text is packed with information about the many specialties available to the forensic nurse. Ms. Lynch had multiple authors contribute their "best" to this book. Linda Ledray writes about sexual assault, the others write about their own special practice and specialized knowledge in the field.
I have to be honest, a few chapters read like "stereo instructions" while others were easier to read and held my interest. I strongly suggest this book for any student or someone who is simply interested in "CSI" type of information. If it is involved with forensics...it's in here.
I have already used it multiple times for research and in my own practice.

I'm taking a SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) class. This text was required. Great information, recent statistical info. Great pictures, however, very graphic. Excellent resource!

5.0 out of 5 stars The bible of forensic nursing, January 21, 2012
This review is from: Forensic Nursing, 1e (Hardcover)
I had the great fortune to be among the group of nurses that met in MN in 1992 to form the International Association of Forensic Nurses. It wasn't until three years later that the American Nurses Association officially recognized forensics as a nursing specialty. At the time, there was no comprehensive text on forensic nursing and this book, with contributions by many of the great nurses and allied professionals in the field, was and is a godsend.

Virginia Lynch, with input from another outstanding forensic nurse, Janet Barber Duval, and many other colleagues, gave us a volume which will serve to educate newcomers to the specialty and will be an excellent reference for the rest of us.

As a forensic nurse for 21 years, I recommend, without hesitation, this excellent textbook of forensic nursing.
