I read this story in the seventies, as an under ten, and found it a magical adventure that will make kids feel at once cosy in an invented world and scared and excited. The cuddly Cowzies of The Forest of Boland are abducted into slavery by ... a nasty race of creatures whose name I can't remember all these years on..., but it's a fantastic adventure that has remained in my mind like The Hobbit does and I am looking for a copy to read my demanding primary class as a teacher!
