5.0 out of 5 stars Great Structured Black Metal, September 23, 2005

This is a really good band. I think they call themselves Unanimated because they are all talent black metal musicians with no corpse paint. Definatly reminds me of Dissection and the guitar solos remind me of Nevermore. They can stay evil and still put forth a beautiful sound. This is one of the few bands that can conjure images in my mind (other than gore and Christian slaying madness). "Fire Storm" is a great example of this with wailing screams of sadness and piercing guitar solos. The drummer reminds me of the drummer of Dissection on "Storm of the Light's Bane" and plays pretty consistant blast beats. They also incorporate the acoustic guitar on a few songs such as "At Dawn". Any fans of black metal like Dissection, Setherial or Opeth should definatly pick this up.

5.0 out of 5 stars a lost gem in every sense of the word, February 26, 2009
I was there in the mid to late 80's thrashing to the underground and let me tell you, this is a great album full of tasty, technical riffin and killer death hooks. Some reviewers say this album borrows from black metal. I say NO WAY..Strongly disagree. Nothing about this is black metal. GUYS!..blast beats existed in death metal BEFORE the genre of black metal really was even born. This is PURE death metal which,if anything, borrows from thrash metal. But,really, don't worry about labels and just find this. I also recommend the book Swedish Death Metal by Daniel Ekeroth. There are hundreds of underground gems that came out of Sweden in th late 80's and early 90's outside of the essentials of Entombed,Dismember,Nihilist,Bathory,Merciless.. This is surely one of the best of them.

This scandinavian black/death metal band has a pretty good album right here. I myself, being a fan of bands like In Flames, Dark Tranquility, Arch Enemy, Opeth, etc. really liked this band from the first second I put it into my CD player. The vocals remind me more of the sound of a typical death metal voice but do show some signs of a black metal influence. The riffs are anything but boring and at some parts are beautifully melodic. Although, alot of the songs sound alike, a few stand out songs are: Fire storm, Blackness of a Fallen Star, and Mournful Twilight. Overall, fans of black or death metal will for sure embrace this as one of their favorite albums.
