5.0 out of 5 stars great split., June 28, 2006

This review is from: The Forest Is My Throne/Yggdrasill (Audio CD)
I found this split to be quite a purchase. the Satyricon songs (tracks 1 through 4) don't sound too bad to be demo-quality, but the Enslaved demos are really gritty, one complaint being that the drums are sometimes set aside to one ear, which can sometimes cause disconfort when listening to through headphone, but sound fine when listening to over any type of speaker (radio, computer speakers, etc.)

overall, a great purchase, recommended to those who are fans of either one of these bands.

4.0 out of 5 stars 4 because ov production, September 20, 2010
This review is from: The Forest Is My Throne/Yggdrasill (Audio CD)
now before i start let me say this, black metal is my favorite genre ov musik so im used to terrible production... now this is a split including the bands SATYRICON and ENSLAVED, the satyricon songs are well produced for early bm and are worth the money alone for any fan ov the band. this is there earliest works and the first to include the mighty frost on drums!! but the reason this split gets a 4 is because although the production on the enslaved part is very grim and necro has awesome atmosphere, the drums only play through 1 headphone when your listening to it on headphones! it sounds alright through a stereo but it gets kinda annoying when played through headphones, also the keys and synths when they are used are so overwhelmingly loud it completely drowns everything else going on in the song.. that being said the vocals are awesome and you get to hear the first works ov another ov the genres titans at drums TRYM!!!all in all if your a fan ov either band (or both like me) you need this for your collection.
