Book Description

This is a powerful retelling of the Robin Hood story from Marian's point of view. When fifteen year old Mary flees into the forest to avoid a fearsome marriage arranged by her uncle, she little knows what challenges lie in store for her as the wise and magical Green Lady of the Woods.

About the Author

Theresa Tomlinson and her husband live in North Yorkshire. Over the years Theresa has acquired an outstanding reputation for her historical novels. Shortlisted twice for the Carnegie Medal and for the Sheffield Children's Book Award, she takes a keen interest in the north-east coast of England. Recent visits to Turkey have fuelled her enthusiasm for the ancient mythology of that part of the world. Her scrupulous research has resulted in two epic stories in which classic tales and imaginative re-enactment make a stunning impact.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not Baby-Preschool, October 26, 2003
By
Allie (Boston, MA) - See all my reviews
This book is for intermediate or young adult readers who are very interested in a strong heroine who is quick thinking and compassionate. Also for readers who enjoy the legend of Robin Hood, as long as they are willing to look at it from a new perspective. Theresa Tomlinson's "The Forestwife Trilogy" puts "Maid Marian" in the spotlight in this must-read companion to Robin Hood's tale.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best book i've read in a long time!, April 7, 2004
A Kid's Review
This is a MUST READ by one of best historical writers I know.
The story tells of young Mary De Holt, a firy teen in a desperate need to get out.
We follow our new friend, and her faithfull old nurse Agnes into the depths of Sherwood forest, were they find a clearing, The Forestwifes clearing.
This gripping tale of desperation, love, death, fear of discovery and all round greatness, is certain to be a big hit with any Theresa Tomlinson and Robin Hoods fans alike!

5.0 out of 5 stars As good as chocolate!!, September 7, 2010
This review is from: Forestwife Trilogy (Paperback)
I cannot believe that there are only 2 reviews on this page for this excellent story.
I enjoyed reading Robin Hood from a different perspective. I could not stop until I finished the last word. I have never really liked Robin Hood, but now that I got to know him through the eyes of another, a woman - I adore him.
I never knew what was going to happen next.
I honestly loved it and like that last block of chocolate, I wanted to make it last.
