Great story, great hero, great book!,
This review is from: Forever After (Mass Market Paperback)
Not only does Catherine Anderson do a great job creating wonderful characters and a very moving love story, but she also tells a great tale. She has a particular talent for creating great heroes that seem like ordinary guys, but when it comes time to protect or defend their mates, they show an amazing depth of caring and commitment without turning all wishy-washy. Heath Masters is a perfect example. "Forever After" is about Meredith and her daughter, Sammy, who are in hiding from some shady characters from their past. They happen to move next to Heath, a very sexy small town sheriff, and his dog. Meredith's stringent refusal to accept his neighborly advances only whet Heath's curiosity. Little does he know that Meredith and Sammy are going to lead his life in all sorts of unexpected directions. The rest of the story is so good that I don't want to give it away, so just do yourself a favor and read this book!

A Keeper!,

First and foremost, I have never before come across a character as beautifully potrayed as Heath Masters! The guy should be brought to life... the best part about him was that he could laugh at himself and was not afraid to love.. *sigh*O.K. second best thing about the book is the dog!! Goliath was excellent as a friend and protector and showed far more intelligence than his human counter parts. The story was nothing unusual, single mother running from a horrible past, runs straight into the arms of a handsome hunk... what gripped me was the personality of each character, including the dog, was well written. A good mix of humour, weepy emotions and spicy sex! Truly emotionaly satisfying!

SUPERBLY WONDERFUL STORY,
By A Customer
This review is from: Forever After (Mass Market Paperback)
FOREVER AFTER is a wonderfully written story. The characters are so real that you are pulled into their lives as you read. Meredith and Heath are two people who eventually grow to understand each other as they finally confess their secrets; however, the brightest stars in this book are Sammy and Goliath, child and dog, but not just any dog he's a retired canine cop with numerous accomodations. The love that develops between them is truly a heavenly match. Sammy will have you laughing out loud with some of the things that she says. The life that she has suffered prior really lets you know that children can be strong individuals. I hope that a sequel may be in the works for Sammy after she grows up. This book truly is enjoyable. So relax and enjoy.

Good until the end when one line ruined the whole thing,
By Frankie (Pennsylvania) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Forever After (Mass Market Paperback)
Before getting to 3 pages from the end of the book, I would have rated this book much higher. I seem to be the only reviewer that is appalled by one line spoken by the "hero" of the story. The book focuses on the struggles of a single mom, fleeing a mob-connected father-in-law. The author made the mental, physical and sexual abuse of the "heroine" a key point in the book. Good story until the end when she and the hero were reunited and he states how often he's thought of seeing her again and "raping her sweet a@@." WHAT????!@!!@@?? Are you kidding me? There is NEVER an occasion when this comment should be used as a joke or an endearment. It will be a long time, if ever, before I buy another Catherine Anderson book.

Catherine Anderson has a way with words. She keeps your interest peeked through the whole book. I can't wait for the sequel. She leaves you wanting more. Forever After is a book I can read over and over and still get excited about the characters and plot each time.Wish it was a movie...:)

Anderson = Excellence!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Forever After (Mass Market Paperback)
Catherine Anderson's obvious intelligence and sensitivity comes through in this tale of a desparate-but-strong mother, her precocious-but-withdrawn child, a big-hearted Rottweiler, and a strong-and-sensitive sheriff. I loved many of the scenes, especially the one of Goliath, the Rottweiler, sleeping on his back in the bathtub, and the classic scene of the daughter washing the sheriff's mouth out with soap (their agreement if he continued using cuss words). I enjoy Ms. Anderson's well-crafted writing, and love her stories. This is the first contemporary of her's I have encountered, but I hope it is not the last!

Wonderful...,
This review is from: Forever After (Mass Market Paperback)
This book is one of Catherine's best. I loved it. The hero (Heath) is simply wonderful. All the characters are great. Meredith is strong and courageous, though she had been abused, and in horrible ways. She is fragile and vulnarable, at the same time. There is also Meredith's adorable little girl, and Heath's lovable dog, Golaith. The storyline is great. And the way the blossoming love between Heath and Meredith is protrayed, is unforgettable. This book was a great, great read. It will make you lol at some parts, it will move you to tears or make your heart flutter at some parts. Hightly recommended!

Another winner for Catherine Anderson,

This review is from: Forever After (Mass Market Paperback)
When Meredith married Dan Calendri, she did not realize how abusive her spouse was. So when he dies, Meredith feels that she and her little girl are finally safe. That illusion is quickly shattered when Dan's father Glenn decides he wants to raise his granddaughter and will go to any length to obtain his desires. Glenn, who has mob connections, works behind the scenes to get Meredith declared incompetent so that he can gain custody. She knows that she is going to lose. Fearing for her daughter, who was abused by Dan, Meredith and Sammy flee into the night. The pair moves to a remote area of Oregon where her nearest neighbor is Sheriff Heath Masters. However, Sammy fears all males and Meredith is afraid that Glenn will find her so both of them try to avoid Heath. The frightened females never counted on Heath's canine Goliath, who adopts the little girl as his own. Soon Heath finds himself falling in love with the two vulnerable females. However, Glenn is closing in on them and Heath has dedicated his career to a strict interpretation of the law. Besides having to risk his life for love, Heath has to sacrifice his ideals as a dedicated law enforcement official if he wants to save his beloved women. However, this is something he is not sure he can do. FOREVER AFTER is a superb adult fairy tale romance that will excite fans of suspense. The lead protagonists are wonderful characters, though at times they are exceeded by the brilliantly developed Goliath and Sammy, whose fear of men seems so horrifically genuine. Catherine Anderson is truly one of the great writers of romantic suspense on the market today. Harriet Klausner
