5.0 out of 5 stars PURE BLISS !!!, July 11, 2002

This CD has brought back lots of memories in a nice way. Though there's no new song in this album, most of them are well-crafted. The remixes are incredible. You just can't have enough of those songs. Check out different version of "Sounds Like A Melody" (great mix !!), "Forever Young" (sounds like Cher's 'Believe'), "Jerusalem" (the uptempo one-- very cool), "Big In Japan" (2 different mixes --- well done !!), and many more. Just get this CD. It's a bit pricy, but well worth your money. Trust me. Peace !!

I first heard of this CD from KaZaA! I did a search for a song and the Forever Young remix (which does sound like Cher's Believe) appeared by accident. I downloaded it, fell in love with it, and scoured the Internet to find the source. To my amazement there was a whole CD full of Alphaville remixes. I bought it from Amazon.com's marketplace and I haven't regretted it a bit.

I've only had it for a week but I'd say my favorite songs are all except tracks 2, 5, 6, and 10; not that these songs are bad but the other ones are just so good -- I'm pretty sure these will grow on me though. Contrary to some sites track 13, the Eiffel 65 remix of Big in Japan, is not 14 minutes, it's only 3:30. There's a hidden remix, or two depending on how you look at it, of Jerusalem starting at 5:30. I don't know why Alphaville hid them, they're awesome! Much better, IMO, than the one listed, track 6.

I have pretty eclectic musical tastes and this CD is a perfect match for me. It moves from Cher sounds, the Forever Young remix, to spoiled brat enjoyment, the Jet Set remix, to 80s Sting-style rock, the Red Rose remix -- my favorite song BTW. Did I mention the Forever Young remix sounds like Cher's Believe?

Anyway, awesome CD whether you're an Alphaville fan or not.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun twist to the classics, February 7, 2007
This review is from: Forever (Audio CD)
I absolutely love Alphaville's classic songs, but it is nice to hear a different, more modern version of them. Most of the remixes I like. The "Big in Japan" mix doesn't quite stir me as I'd like, but it's still interesting. I would reccommend this album, especially if you love Alphaville.

5.0 out of 5 stars Memories with a Bang!, February 20, 2004

Instant Classic.
Yes, those are only re-makes of their old hits but done so exquisitely that it is hard to compare them to the originals. You won't find here a boring and so typical two minute bass line showed in the middle of a song - so we can call it a `remix'. Instead, you will find here a complete recreation of the original idea, only this time circa 2001.

Forever Pop is vibrant and powerful. And on "Sounds Like A Melody" you wish your amplifier could go all the way to `eleven'.

P.S.
Extra / hidden track and a half (just like the one on "Stark Naked...") is a nice touch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Strange, but True, December 22, 2001

This is a very melancholic look at the past and the future. Allthough it might seem to some that Alphaville had run out of songs, there are at least TWO brand new albums that we can expect in 2002! One was an exclusive web-album that will be released on CD and the other a brand new Studio Album. So if you think this is very good, but the best that Alphaville can do, just wait.

This is a superb album and it is not only for Aplphaville fans. A must have!

5.0 out of 5 stars They just keep getting better and better., May 5, 2004

Wow. I have this CD in constant rotation in my car and at home. Marian's voice is as powerful as ever; the songs are essentially re-invented and updated by still wonderfully crafted. If you a longtime fan or new to the group's recordings, this CD is essential.

5.0 out of 5 stars We were expecting this..., November 17, 2002

I was expecting AV was going to produce some kind of 2000 release of their most popular songs, and they did it very well!
Actually, the best two songs are Paul Van Dyk Mix for 'Dance with me' and the FY remix. The style is danceable but very modern. I recently discovered at the end of the last track there's a hidden version of Jerusalem... Wow!
Also, Marian Gold's voice is actual, so you can expect hearing him singing Jerusalem or Dance with me not from the old records.
The true credit for this album is the fact they are inspiring live their best songs again, so there's a kind of melancholy and some kind of brand new spirit in these songs.
