Amazing!,

I own a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the bumpers and trim had faded to a shade of gray that was almost white. Although it took two bottles of the Forever Black and alot of time/effort to restore the plastic, by the time I had finished it looked new again. Actually, I'm not sure it was that black when I bought it 8 years ago. I waited 4 months before writing this review to see how long it would last before washing off and it hasn't yet. I haven't applied any other products during this period and it actually looks as shiny and black as it did the day I put it on. This product is like a miracle cure for tired, old cars.

WOW!!,

This is an amazing product. I have a 2004 Volvo XC70 whose black bumper and other trim had faded to grey pretty badly. (I am sure many readers have seen Volvo's with trim that has faded really badly.) I used to treat the trim with Mother's Back to Black and it made the trim look great....until it rained, which caused the product to run and cause streaks in the trim...making it look even worse than before I even treated it.
The important factors in using Forever Black are preparation and patience. Preparation: The product comes packaged with a cleanser and an applicator bottle. I took my time and cleansed my trim three times, very well, with the cleanser. Then carefully I dried it. Patience: Once I started to apply the dye, the trim absorbed it like a sponge. I was concerned at first because of the rate at which the product was being absorbed; I was afraid I did not have enough product to do the job. Well, I persevered and after about 6 full applications on all of the black trim, it looked better than brand new. Plus, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the bottle of product was still about half full! Even now, several months (and several rainfalls) later, the trim still looks better than it did when the car was new. I am in love with this product, and whenever I am out driving the car, I love the puzzled looks I get from others (especially other XC70 owners) because my car blows theirs away with its good looks. I am waiting for someone to approach me one day and ask, "What in the world did you do?" Great job, Forever Black! You have an excellent product here. Don't stop making it!!

A truly great product w/ a terrible applicator - here's a tip,
This review is from: Forever Black Bumper & Trim Dye Kit
Everything people say about how well this product works is true. It's nothing short of amazing.
The person who gave it 1 star and mentioned the problems with the applicator is correct - that can happen. So, the best way I have found to use this product (I've done 3 trucks) is to pour the dye into a disposable plastic container and use a cheap disposable foam paint applicator. Works like a charm plus you can use the foam brush that best suits the area you are dying. Makes it easier, cleaner and faster than using the built in foam dabber especially for small trim, corners, tight areas, etc. I do something similar with tire dressing like Black Magic Tire wet. I pour it into a cup and use a paint brush to apply it.

Outlasts any other trim treatment,

I've tried over a dozen other trim reconditioners on my black textured trim. Most washed off with a day or two of rain. Only Forever Black keeps the trim black. I did an extensive comparison among several others on my web site, have a look to see photos and results:

This stuff Rocks!,

Yup, this stuff on my flares basically made my '97 Wrangler look like new again. Since the style didn't change substantially for the next nine years and my paint's in great shape, it's indistiguishable from a new model, to the untrained eye. My flares were REALLY faded, so I needed a few coats to get the color even, but I've still got plenty left. If you look hard, there's a side-by-side test of a bunch of these out there in a Mini blog or something. This won for longevity, which is the real downfall of the others.

Looked great for 4 Days Not Happy! Now looks worse than before,
By
This review is from: Forever Black Bumper & Trim Dye Kit
Looked great for 4 days and then down hill from there. Was going to write a review then because I was so excited about my Volvo trim and got several thumbs up. But I said I would give it some time before I reviewed the product to see how it would hold up. I did all of the pre-work. Cleaned and scrubbed all trim a let dry for hours. I believe in doing things right the first time and not rushing so I took my time to prep the car and taped off everything so that nothing got on the car. When all was said and done I applied two coats and my car looked new again for 4 days. On day 5 I noticed it started to flake off in spots and on day 7 we got about 15 minutes of rain and it looked like my car had a serious case of dandruf. At that point I sent a email to Forever Black to ask for help or a solution to my problem. That was the first week of November 2010 but everyone was at SEMA and no one was able to assist. I did get a response from someone in the off stating this is an easy fix and that someone would get back to me after SEMA. Today is February 1, 2011 and still no response and no solution and my car looks worse than it did before I applied Forever Black. Hours of my life wasted that I will never get back. Poor customer service :-(

This stuff is awesome. My car has black plastic bumper trim and with 60,000 miles, it was looking faded and more of a dark gray than black.
I removed the trim (simple for me, your car may vary), washed it with dish soap and water, then used the included cleaner. After it dried I carefully applied one even coat, let it sit for 20 minutes, then another coat. The results are really really nice, with a deep black luster that doesn't coat the plastic surface like a paint but instead looks factory fresh. The instructions say to not apply in direct sunlight, but I did and it didn't burst into flames or anything. Also, I spilled some on my wife's red car (crap!) but it wiped up immediately and left no marks. It did stain the concrete garage floor that I dripped on. The applicator is tricky but not that hard to figure out, and after doing 3 coats on every plastic part on the whole car, I didn't use even a quarter of the bottle. This stuff is a great product and I recommend it. Buy one for yourself, one for your father-in-law and one for the mailman too.

Fantastic product!,

I used this before on a previous car and after 6 years, it still looks great. I just bought more to do the trim on my Avalanche. The summer sun in AZ faded this plastic quickly. I plan to take a "before" and "after" photo to post here. I highly recommend this product. As for the other user's comment on application... it's always a good idea to start the liquid on a test piece of anything....to get the initial flow. That's just common sense when dealing with any product that is labeled permanent. I used the sponge applicator on the bulk of the area needed, but then used a q-tip for getting into small crevasses. Even a make-up sponge bought at any drug store, can be used for these hard to reach places. You could even cut the make-up sponge to a smaller size. This product has brought new life back to my vehicles and I will purchase again in the future when needed. Well worth the money! Please see recent photo updates above.

Simply A Must Buy for Grey Bumpers,
By
This review is from: Forever Black Bumper & Trim Dye Kit
"After going through all the reviews I bought this awesome product. I just bought a used car and the bumpers of the car had turned grey. Gave this black magic a try and boom it worked flawlessly for me. One thing I want to make sure is that while applying the dye please wait for it to dry so that you know the exact darkness of black that you want to see on your car. Highly recommend this."

I used Forever Black trim dye on my heavily faded trim on my 2003 Saab 9-5. I am very impressed with the results. The trim looks just like it did in 2003, eight years later! Though, I recommend using masking tape to mask off the areas around the trim. It make clean up much easier, especially on a lighter colored car.
Highly recommend this product. |
