Laney is on the run with her three children. She has finally managed to get away from her abusive husband Paul, at least for now, but she knows it's only a matter of time before he finds them. Laney runs to a friend from college, Sheila, who now operates a safe house for abused women. There Laney comes face to face with the power of God to work through even the difficulties of her life. Even as Laney is starting to feel more comfortable with the idea of God in her life, she knows that Paul is still out there somewhere and now strange things are beginning to happen to the people she now has in her life.

In Forever Blessed, Darlene Shortridge has woven a fascinating and exciting story that touches on a very real issue for many people. She takes the characters through several real and believable circumstances and is able to show how prayer and faith in Jesus are able to provide comfort in the midst of them. The story is captivating from beginning to end and she keeps the plot building and moving as you wonder how Laney is truly going to end up confronting her past. I thoroughly enjoyed reading through this and I know that others will find it a wonderful and heart-wrenching read.

Forever Blessed, the second in the "Women of Faith" series by Darlene Shortridge, is a compelling book about women who are abused and the choices they make. As a survivor of abuse, this book is very realistic, and at times, very difficult to read because of the nature of abuse, the deep emotions it invokes and how real the characters are. It is also a story about God's forgiveness, His deep grace and His mercy. As a survivor of abuse, the only way forgiveness can happen is through the supernatural power of God. Accepting God's forgiveness helps us understand how to forgive others and through forgiveness, we are blessed. I would encourage you to read this book to gain insights into the lives of women who are abused. Another excellent book by Darlene Shortridge!

What happens in an abusive relationship? Does it touch just one person? Now what happens when they have children? Are the children immune? Messed up? Ms. Shortridge writes with a purpose. That purpose? Abuse is wrong. It hurts more than just the one on the receiving end. And yet, that doesn't have to be the end of the story. Because there is hope.

Taking her faith in God, her love for others, and purpose-driven characters, each with a story of their own, Ms. Shortridge weaves a fantastic, thought-provoking story that will make you tear up. It will challenge the way you think. And it will help you see that yes, there is purpose and life. Even after abuse.

This is life changing fiction that grabs your attention and doesn't let go until the satisfying end. Another great book by a very talented author!
