Editorial Reviews

THESE HEARTS reflects the tradition and urgency that propelled bands like HAWTHORNE HEIGHTS and TAKING BACK SUNDAY when they were at their peaks coupled with where A DAY TO REMEMBER currently sits. Their fantastic debut, 'Forever Ended Yesterday', was produced by CHIODOS' / D.R.U.G.S. frontman Craig Owens. 'Forever Ended Yesterday' is loaded with magnetically addictive hooks, high energy guitars, gritty heaviness, mixed with post-hardcore rhythms, and heartfelt songwriting. THESE HEARTS will enter the hearts and minds of young rock fans in short order.

4.0 out of 5 stars Catchy Punk/Screamo with lots of hooks! March 5, 2012
By B.F.
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
These Hearts are a Christian metalcore/screamo punk band recently signed to Victory Records and they do not dissapoint! As most of us Twin Cities natives know, there isn't much to do in Fargo, ND. That is UNLESS you have a bunch of kids who buy guitars, amps and a drum kit with a double bass pedal and start rocking out!!! This band has made one serious catchy, melodic debut full of hooks for Victory. This is punk minded metalcore and it has major listenability, every song grabs you from the first track to the last. Forever Ended Yesterday combines a good balance of scream and clean vocals and some simple but infectious guitar riffs coupled with power chord choruses. The double bass drum kick is right on the beat; a staple for any screamo band! Forever Ended even includes one quiet acoustic ballad amidst the fast metalcore (Thinking in Terms Of Two). If you like A Day To Remember or A Skylit Drive but don't care for the cuss words and negative lyrics, this is for you! Now, despite how much I like this album, I will admit they have receieved some criticism, and so has Victory Records for signing them, according to Wikipedia. These Hearts are a very young band and their lead singer may need some vocal developmemt in expanding his range and controlling his voice when singing higher notes. He sings very well on the one ballad I mentioned, but he hits his break on the higher pitched choruses. The rhythmic drive of the drums and guitars do make up for it though. That being said, this is a great record with great songs and with a little experience, this band will be seasoned and rockin'. I'm already looking forward to their sophmore release because I think they can only get better.
