5.0 out of 5 stars Not for fans..., April 20, 2006

If you don't have any Faithless albums then by all means get this before you spring for the full collection. It's a good sample of the wonder that is Faithless.

I have all their albums and an embarrassing number of singles, so I got this one in case any of the tracks were different. Sadly the only variation is that some of the tracks are shortened Radio Edits rather than the full track.

If you already have Reverence, Sunday 8pm, Outrospective and No Roots, then better spend the money on the "Why Go?" single import which has the brilliantly smooth Hoxton Whores remix.

For sure, I must recommend to buy all the original albums including remixes, but this is because I love Faithless.
If you are not a Faithless fan, but you like electronic music, you must have this album. This compilation is very well done, you get the best and buying it you'll not be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Flow of Sounds, November 18, 2007
This review is from: Forever Faithless (Audio CD)
I rarely listened to music due to my hard of hearing. But, when one day someone recommended me to see Faithless' "Bombs" video, I was taken back and surprised at the flow of the music in the mentioned video. Indeed, I became attracted to his music.

So, I came upon this "The Greatest Hits" and I could not stop listening to it. From this set, my favorite songs are:

- Insomnia
- God is a DJ
- Why Go

5.0 out of 5 stars I continue to have faith in their ability to create great dance music, December 29, 2005
This review is from: Forever Faithless (Audio CD)
1997 was the year. "Insomnia" by Faithless had swept over the dance floor. The ensemble's unique echoic sound would last through their numerous albums, but always bringing in new elements to keep their musical proposal fresh. Unlike others that seem more meant to fulfill a contract, this Greatest Hits compilation does do them justice and presents the true best of their works. Almost nine years later, I hear the Monster Mix of "Insomnia" on this album, and it takes me back to the day. Definitely my faith in Faithless' ability to create great dance music is as strong today as ever.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good collection - I'd have loved the *original* Insomnia, though..., March 11, 2011

I was all happy to buy this collection of Faithless, and it's a very good one.

Still, I really find it hard to deal with getting ONLY the 8'42 minutes 'Monster Mix' version of 'Insomnia'... which I find so much more powerful in its *dry*, *compact*, more *subtle* 3'35 version! Am I the only one feeling this way?

It's likely that a majority of people won't have any complain about this mix obviously made for clubbing, probably will never have heard 'Insomnia' any differently.
A friend has the vinyl version of what i call the 'original'. It's nowhere to be found, neither on the numerous albums nor on the singles available here on amazon. I only know for sure that the "short and dry" version I favor exists because the video of it is featured on YouT**** ! [If you're interested: just add watch?v=LuqEbRzy_t8 after ....com/ ;-) ]

I heard that version first and instantly was as overpowered as so may others - but I wasn't in a club and dancing when I heard it (I then very likely would love any remix that features the dance riff of all dance riffs and Maxi Jazz's voice). Thus, I feel that, producing a "Greatest hits" album, they could have seized the opportunity to provide us with the first edit of the tune that aired on the radio, before taking the world's clubs by storm...

So, final word: this is a truly great sample of what Faithless do best - just not featuring what I personally consider as the "real" version of 'Insomnia'.

4.0 out of 5 stars Forever Faithless, January 8, 2011
This review is from: Forever Faithless (Audio CD)
After watching Faithless' set at Glastonbury on TV this year and the crowd reaction to their music I thought it was about time I bought a best of and explored their music some more. This is an excellent introduction to the band and gives us plenty of the hits they are known for, as well as some that are lesser known. Of course I love the anthem `Insomnia', which never fails to plaster a smile on my face when that riff kicks in. `Mass Destruction' has a similar effect for me as well and I am soon grinning like a loon once it kicks in. Considering these are the two tracks that open this album makes for a very uplifting start to this collection. For some, like me, this will be enough of an introduction to the band to satisfy your curiosity, but if you love this style of music I can well imagine you wanting to track down more after playing this through a few times. This gives us infectious beats, intelligent and catchy lyrics and hit after hit on one CD, you couldn't ask for more.

Feel free to check out my blog which can be found on my profile page.

4.0 out of 5 stars Always Full of Faith in Faithless, June 25, 2009

I guess my expectations were too high for this because I thought they should have connected the songs. I like the songs included but Faithless has done so much that this is not really a money saving investment--I will end up buying more and more old (and new) Faithless to satisfy that part of me that respects and enjoys their music. But I wouldnt give it up or lend it out dont get me wrong I am still full of faith in Faithless.
