Getting the facts straight, February 26, 2006
This review is from: Forever Free: Sublime Tribute (Audio CD)
I'm writing this in regards to the review below. The reviewer, "J. Snook" states that "This is a miserable attempt at gaining attention to a new music label by doing a tribute record of a band that they didn't even know that well." Well I can tell you first hand that's wrong as I'm friends with the guy who produced the album. He's a huge Sublime fan and has been since 1993, probably longer than "Snook" has been alive. Also, he states "If you look at the tracklist you will realize that some of the songs are in fact covers of other artists as well, so these jerks aren't even covering authentic Brad Nowell written music." That also is wrong, as all the songs are Sublime originals with the exception of the final track, which is marked very clearly for what it is. So it looks like "J. Snook" may be the one that doesn't know the band all that well. I hate wasting my time replying to incorrect internet trash talking but being that this is supposed to be a accurate review of an album, I thought y'all at least deserved to know the truth. He doesn't like the album, fine....but don't throw lies out there.

Forever Free Review, January 19, 2009
This review is from: Forever Free: Sublime Tribute (Audio CD)
Im pretty big into Sublime, love their sound, everything about them. I heard Ballyhoo!'s cover of 40 oz to freedom and thought it was pretty sick, but the rest of the songs are so disappointing. I just go the cd, sat down to listen to it, was so pissed off that I had to come on here and prevent anyone else from buying the cd. If your a sublime fan, stick to the orig cd's or greatest hits albums. I hope these bands never touch another sublime song again. Whoever put together this "tribute" should be really embarassed.

My favorite Sublime tribute, January 3, 2007
This review is from: Forever Free: Sublime Tribute (Audio CD)
I am a longtime fan of Sublime, and I absolutely LOVED this CD. I really didn't like "Look at All the Love" all that much. I feel the bands on "Forever Free" covered the songs in a style Bradley would appreciate if he were here today.
The track "Forever Free" by If All Else Fails is a must hear for all sublime fans. The lyrics are the words read by Bradley's cousin at his funeral.
Other great tracks include: Seed - The Skeletons, Badfish - No Use For A Name, and 40 Oz. To Freedom - Ballyhoo!
"Good music is good music and that should be enough for anybody."
-Brad Nowell
