Book Description

Book #1 of The Beaumont Series

I was never supposed to be a rock star. I had my life all planned out for me. Play football in college. Go to the NFL. Marry my high school sweetheart and live happily ever after.

I broke both our hearts that day when I told her I was leaving. I was young. I made the right decision for me, but the wrong decision for us. I've poured my soul into my music, but I've never forgotten her. Her smell, her smile.

And now I'm going back.

After ten years.

I hope I can explain that after all this time.

I still want her to be my forever girl.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful and Captivating second chance love story! December 27, 2012
By Paula
Format:Kindle Edition

Forever My Girl is a beautiful, captivating second chance love story. This story broke my heart, made me laugh, made me cry, made me smile, and, when it was over, sigh with happiness. This is a highly impressive debut novel by Heidi McLaughlin.

When Liam left ten years ago to pursue his dreams to become a musician, he left everyone behind, including the love of his life, without an explanation. Liam and Josie were high school sweethearts. They had their whole lives planned out together. But, of course, those plans fell through when Liam left. Liam eventually became a super rock star and Josie stayed behind in a small town with a broken heart. She tried, time and again, to reach Liam until he changed his number, which left Josie no choice but to move on with her life.

Ten years later Liam reads in a newspaper that his best friend from high school has been killed in a car accident. He decides to go back home to pay his respects to his friend. He knows when he goes home he will see her. Josie. The girl he left behind and the girl he never got over. Over the years, he's never had a serious relationship. In his mind, Josie has always been his girl - the one and only girl for him. He knows there is a good chance she's married with children, but he can't leave without seeing her just once.

Josie has tried to move on from Liam. In her mind she has, but her heart says another thing. Every day has been a struggle without Liam in her life. But she did eventually find love again. Not the kind of love she had with Liam, though. She's now engaged to be married, raising her son, and owns a florists shop. However, when Liam finds out what he really left behind, it was more than he could've ever imagined.

3.0 out of 5 stars Author has potential January 3, 2013
By Laura
Format:Kindle Edition
I liked the sound of this book and it has a plot that I have read and enjoyed many times before. The book is told from both the H&H point of view.

Liam Payne is a rock star yet he regrets the fact that to have his dream he dumped the only girl he has ever loved. Ten years have passed since he left his hometown and his 'girl' behind. Liam has just discovered his best friend Mason has been killed, so he plans to return home for the funeral. He has never forgotten his first love Josie and knows he will see her at the funeral. He knows there is a possibility she is married with kids but he is shocked when he meets her Son, Noah - not really a spoiler as this happens early on, but yes, the Son is his and he discovers Josie is now engaged to Nick a guy that Liam hated in high school.

I think the author could have done more with Liam finding out he has a Son. He takes the news calmly, he doesn't argue with Josie or get angry that she didn't contact him. To be honest, Liam's character is very tame. He is a tattooed rock star yet he is very mild mannered. I didn't find him sexy at all.

We don't get a lot of their back story. I think the author should have created a new chapter each time she went back in the past instead she just inserts it mid paragraph when we are reading the present day. The reason Liam decided to dump Josie was a bit of a let down and didn't really ring true for me. Not only did he leave Josie, but he didn't stay in touch with his best friend Mason because Mason's girlfriend, Katelyn was Josie's best friend and he thought she would tell Josie where he was. The fact that Liam then goes on to become a famous Rock Star yet his friends never go to any of his concerts or try to get in touch with him seemed a bit far fetched.

2.0 out of 5 stars Typos Galore! January 12, 2013
By Diana

This book is full of typos! I can forgive an occasional grammatical error, but this book is peppered with missing words, misused words, poor sentence structure, comma splices, etc. I found myself unable to enjoy the story because of the errors.

2.0 out of 5 stars Selfish Self Centered People January 10, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I look at how many people have given reviews and if it's over 100 and they are all 4 and 5 stars, I usually jump at the chance to buy the book. What a mistake this time. Clearly these are friends and family writing reviews.

I have no idea what kind of love story people are finding in this book because all I found was two completely self-centered people. Josie was the worst. Her best friend's husband just died leaving her with two kids, and all Josie can do is cry to her about a guy that left her 10 years ago. She even kept saying she should be comforting her friend, but never once did she. Then she completely screws over a guy that she has been with for 6 years to jump right back into an old relationship with a guy she really knows nothing about anymore (was high school football player now mega rock star.) I also can't stand books where they state everything a person is thinking rather than show with actions. ("I want my dreams to come true with expanding my store". Okay do it don't state it).

Then there is Liam who just ups and leaves 10 years ago and comes back with what I found to be no remorse. Yes once again in his chapters he kept saying how he screwed up and was going to do everything to make it right, but I never saw that in any of his actions. He was an ass to Josie at first when he was the one that left. And during the time he was away he was a complete man whore and Josie didn't seem to mind that at all when he came back. His only redeeming quality was that he was good with all of the kids.

When I start mentally writing a review half way through a book it's never a good thing because I'm having a hard time finding any redeeming qualities about the book.
