Book Description

When NYPD Sergeant Roy Ruiz began working the serial killings with Detective Tim Rosetto, they had no way of knowing the killer whom they were hunting had been dead for over two hundred years. The grisly crime scenes leave plenty of forensic evidence, but unfortunately, none of it makes any sense—unless you can open your mind to some very strange possibilities.

FBI Special Agent Doug Patmore, whose special unit works with Missing Persons, Unsolved Violent Crimes, Homicide, and Sexual Assaults has been hunting this killer for years. Together with Roy and Tim, they begin their mind bending investigation that will lead them to Adam Priest—a man that’s been killing and eating women since 1806.

Adam was a lowly Prussian soldier when he was attacked in the woods after the battle of Jena, and the attack changed him forever. It killed the man and created a monster with a hunger for blood that was insatiable. For two hundred years, Adam fed without remorse—until he met Sara. Now, with an emotion almost human tugging at his dead heart, he must decide what to do about Sara as the police get closer with each feeding.

5.0 out of 5 stars Read it. You won't be disappointed. January 11, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Author David Salkin does not disappoint in this surprisingly sexy, horrifically hellacious, suspenseful crime drama. Did I mention the vampire love story? And no, I certainly do not mean the "Edward / Bella" vampire love story. I cringed, I gasped, I was literally horrified - total emotional turmoil in the very best way, yet got my romance kick in all at once. I read the entire book in one sitting! Vivid imagery is used to place the reader right into the plot line. I would definitely recommend this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast paced thriller! April 26, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Although I am not a fan of the other vampire type books, I was excited to read this one because I really enjoy criminal thriller / mystery books. I was not disappointed! This book is fast paced and exciting. You find yourself cheering for the bad guy, Adam Priest and at the same time hoping the cops catch him and put an end to his bloody terror. Author, David Salkin, did a fantastic job of making you "feel" for the characters and his descriptive storytelling ability is first rate. I look forward to his next book!

4.0 out of 5 stars Totally New Territory for Salkin! March 27, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Was he really such a bad guy? I mean, a guy has to eat, doesn't he? Salkin has developed a character for whom you want to root - he's attractive, he's very sexy, he's smooth and charming... Well OK, he does some pretty nasty things too.

This was a totally different slant on the life - or lack thereof - of a vampire. It's very fast-paced, with interesting character development all around, some of them quite engaging. There is great rapport among the gendarmes involved in the case, some romance, and some blood. Actually lots of blood. I didn't think I would be able to relate to such a book, but it turned out to be totally entertaining. Towards the end one's heart begins to race as one considers how one would like it to end, while also considering how it most likely will end. This book is for those interested in police drama, violence, horror and yes, romance. All wrapped up into one enjoyable read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book- A Must Read!! July 24, 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I finished this book about a week ago, and cannot stop thinking about how incredibly well written it is. I truly did not know what was coming next, and the characters are so well developed. I could barely put the book down once I started it. I have recommended it to all of my friends, and even though it is a story about a vampire- it isn't your usual fluffy vampire story we have seen lately. This book has action, suspense, and romance-- creating a good mix for every reader.I cannot wait to read it again.

I suggest you RUN not walk to the nearest link on Amazon to either purchase it in paperback or for the Kindle! You will not regret it. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome twist on several genres August 30, 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
When I read the intro, I thought... What?
But wow, what an intense riveting thriller, with extemely decriptive scenes, a little bit of gore, horror, and detective drama.
Not sure what I what I was expecting, but would highly reccomend it! Already have passed it on to two friends!

5.0 out of 5 stars Scared me April 19, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
ok I got this book cause of course it was vampires but this book really gave me the creeps I mean this was by far no sparkly vampire or even someone questioning whether to kill. He was truely evil and in a weird way he grew on me. I would recommend this book if you like gruesome stuff, if your looking for mush or nice move along. The story is good even though at one point i thought of not finishing it but I gathered my guts and I really liked it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Page turning thriller April 7, 2013
By Missy C
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Great book, once I started, I couldn't stop until I finished it. Fast paced, gruesome, sexy thriller with great characters. This is a graphic read and not something I usually read. But honestly, I was "sucked" in by Adam right from the start. David Salkin did a great job developing his characters and kept me gasping at the turn of each page. I'm already anxiously awaiting book 2 of this crazy ride on the vampire train!
