Des finds himself fighting another murder charge. Of course, by his
side is his "ride or die" wife, Yarni, a brilliant attorney who has

2.0 out of 5 stars Dissappointed
I was so excited about reading this book. So far I have loved every book that Nikki Turner has ever written, except this once. I just didn't find myself on the edge of my seat like the others. This book was east to put down. The plot and sub-plots were predictable and the end left some unanswered questions. This one just didn't do it for me.

This review is from: Forever a Hustler's Wife: A Novel (Nikki Turner Original) (Paperback)
Yarni and Des are back in FOREVER A HUSTLER'S WIFE. After spending
ten years in prison for a crime he didn't commit, two years later,
Des finds himself fighting another murder charge. Of course, by his
side is his "ride or die" wife, Yarni, a brilliant attorney who has
dedicated her life to assisting brothers caught up in the legal
system. Anxious to make up for lost time, Des returns to the streets
with a vengeance. At the funeral of a close friend, Des stumbles on
the perfect hustle, becoming a minister. He closes the hustling
chapter of his life, and begins anew at The Good Life Ministry.
However, peace in the hood never lasts long and demons from his
family's past try to destruct the inner sanctum of their family. Will
Des be able to conquer the evil around the corner or will it be his
downfall?

Nikki Turner is sure to please her fans with the sequel to her best
selling novel, A Hustler's Wife. Not only does Turner give an ending
to Des and Yarni's story, she also manages to answer some lingering
questions from her other novels. FOREVER HUSTLER'S WIFE is filled
with enough twists, turns and drama that when you realize that you
are on the last page, you will be disappointed. Turner's fans will
appreciate the effort she put into this novel because it is one of
the best books of the year. If you have not read, A Hustler's Wife,
then do so because you will not understand the sequel. But if you
have, be ready to enjoy the literary ride of your life.

1.0 out of 5 stars DISSAPOINTMENT, June 21, 2007
This review is from: Forever a Hustler's Wife: A Novel (Nikki Turner Original) (Paperback)
This book was horrible compared to the first one.. It seems as if Nikke needs to read her own novels before doing new ones. The character personalities did not match up! a hustlers wife was my favorite book of all time and this was a DISSAPOINTMENT. I was waiting patiently to hear of the beautiful love yarni and des shared but i only got a young minded des which was not him in the first book, and a borin mediocre relationship. I just wish i never read it..

1.0 out of 5 stars ANOTHER RECYCLED STORY, April 23, 2007
This review is from: Forever a Hustler's Wife: A Novel (Nikki Turner Original) (Paperback)
I AM TRULY DISSAPPOINTED WITH NIKKI. IT SEEMS LIKE THE MORE SHE WRITES THE LESS CREATIVE SHE GETS. ALL HER STORIES ARE BASICALLY THE SAME, BUT BOUNDED IN ANOTHER COVER. NOT TO MENTION, WHAT SHE WRITES IS NEVER REALISTIC. BUT THEN I'VE GOT TO REMEMBER THAT IT IS A WORK OF FICTION. (LUCKY FOR HER) AT ANY RATE, SHE DEFINITELY HAD ME & A FEW OF MY GIRLFRIENDS HYPED UP ABOUT GETTING THIS BOOK WHEN IT DROPPED. TOO BAD, NONE OF US GOT OUR MONIES WORTH.

SO, WITH THAT SAID I SURE HOPE SHE COMES OUT WITH SOMETHING BETTER THE NEXT TIME BECAUSE SHE'S TRULY NOT LIVING UP TO THAT TITLE "QUEEN OF HIP HOP FICTION".

The book was not what I expected at all. Hustler's Wife is a classic. But this sequel is horrid. Super boring, and not realistic at all. Des a preacher? I can't say anything else cause I'm going back to the book store to get a REFUND

3.0 out of 5 stars Shaking Hands With God While Dancing With The Devil, April 10, 2007
By

(VINE VOICE)    (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Forever a Hustler's Wife: A Novel (Nikki Turner Original) (Paperback)
In Nikki Turner's Forever A Hustler's Wife, which is the sequel to A
Hustler's Wife, readers are reintroduced to Yarni and Des Taylor. The
now married couple attempt to coexist in two separate worlds that
continue to collide. Yarni was a successful lawyer who was on a mission
to assist brothers railroaded in the legal system, overcome injustices
similar to those seen by her husband. Des continued to maintain
business in the streets involving drugs, money, and murder.

After serving a ten year prison sentence for a crime he did not
commit, Des is faced again with similar charges. Yarni maintained her
ride or die position, next to Des, making it her mission to keep him
out of prison. The stakes were higher than before since they had a
child together.

Yarni plunges deep into the judicial system and harmoniously danced with
all of the mountains thrown in her path even though some had the
potential of ending her life. Des, on the other hand, was always down
for a hustle. Not only was he into street pharmaceuticals but he
owned `Des's Grown Man Toy Store', which was a luxury car dealership
selling Lamborghini's, Bentley's, and other big ticket automobiles.

After attending the funeral of a close family member, Des witnessed
another hustle. This hustle came from the pulpit. Good Life Ministry
was Des's way of creating a legitimate hustle, or so he tried to
convince himself. Although Yarni explained her uneasiness about Des
becoming a preacher, she stayed by his side as the First Lady. From
dope sales to building funds and collection plates, Des took the game to
another level.

Will all of his sins now be forgiven? Will his corrupt past destroy
his family's future? Who is the winner when you play with God in your
home court? Nikki Turner brings it but should it have been brought?

While this novel is filled with more drama than a soap opera, I still
found it rather easy to put down. The main storyline lacks
originality and none of the subplots had the fire in them to keep me
glued to the pages. It follows the cliché `same stuff, different day'
and I am sure her readers will feel cheated. Those readers who are not
familiar with her prior works will definitely enjoy the book though us
old timers waited so long and expected a more fulfilling story. The
ending leads me to believe there will be another novel and if so, I
hope Yarni learns her lesson.

4.0 out of 5 stars La Dee Da Dee Da, August 25, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Forever a Hustler's Wife: A Novel (Nikki Turner Original) (Paperback)
The sequel was a bit disappointing. I did get through it but it took me a couple of days. It was an ok book but it wasn't one of those books where I had to read it during every free moment I have. I still had to ween my way through the grammatical errors (fault of the publisher), but it was alright. Some of the stuff was a bit far-fetched. I am from the streets so I have a clue. You can read the 2 books or not read them. I will continue to check her out though. I see here writing skills evolving with time. I recommend support Turner and her writings. Peace and Blessings!

How she gone say that Lava felt like family and looking at her she could see it but NEVER said who her people were????

1.0 out of 5 stars Painful..., April 26, 2011
This review is from: Forever a Hustler's Wife: A Novel (Nikki Turner Original) (Paperback)
In a lot of my reviews I will repeat my explanation of my OCD...to explain that I bought some of these "type" of books not knowing they were so terrible and because I own them I feel obligated to read them and for what ever painstaking reason some of these authors felt the need to turn some of them in to series or make sequel's I have to read them as well. I know it doesn't make sense but it is painful for me to sift through this garbage.....I have had this particular book on my shelf for awhile I am trying to get them all off now I would like to get rid of them....this was awful. A successful attorney and a deadbeat criminal..WOW! Her sister is a successful black woman as well with another deadbeat criminal! Briefly we are introduced to another successful woman a famous screenwriter who is also with a dead beat criminal. What world are they living in? I know its fiction but is it fiction for the ignorant? Fiction to make women look dumb ass hell or just make our people look stupid? There is the nephew that he loves sooo much like a son, but he doesn't do anything for him but teach him to become the best dope dealer he can be. No, leave the life and be a better person, go to college be someone...no instead it's I love you like a son so die in the game or go to prison...He loves his wife and baby so much that he leaves them on the day the child is born to kill a man for his boy? A so-called stand up muslim wife (who of course we find lata loses it) who helps peddle drugs? At his nephews funerals he his planning on how to get over on people by using God and the church? He capitalizes off of Hurricane Katrina? I mean really? The main characters are ridiculous! Is there a point to this story? Is there a story? Who writes this kind of crap? There are so many different characters and side stories it just adds to the absurdity of the entire book. There was a time when I didn't believe that you should ever throw a book a way I felt like reading was to important. Hey trash is trash and that is where this is going. The terrible thing is I logged on here and I found out she actually wrote a part 3. Im not sure I can buy it and read it, I know it's terrible she is a terrible writer. We all know it doesn't take talent to make money!
