"Our baby died on prom night, and nothing was ever the same again."

Corabelle doesn't feel like any of the other college girls. On what should have been one of the happiest nights of her life, she and her boyfriend Gavin watched a nurse disconnect the ventilator from their seven-day-old baby. During the funeral two days later, Gavin walked out and never returned.

Since then, her life has been a spiral of disasters. The only thing that has helped is her ability to black out whenever the pain gets too hard to bear, a habit that has become an addiction.

When Gavin shows up in her astronomy class four years later, he is hell-bent on getting her back, insisting she forgive him. Corabelle knows she can't resist the touch that fills the empty ache that has haunted her since he left. But if he learns what she has done, if he follows the trail back through her past, her secrets will destroy their love completely. And once again, she'll lose the only person who always believed she was innocent.

    From the Author

Forever Innocent is an emotional read. Losing a baby and its effect on a relationship isn't something very many people talk about. I hope the book fills you with hope that no matter what trouble life presents you, it can be overcome through forgiveness and love.

Forever Innocent is the first book of Corabelle and Gavin's journey into healing and rediscovery. It was originally written as a standalone and only after early advance readers said they needed more did I realize that there was actually more of their story to tell.

This book was not intended to have a cliffhanger ending -- I really did imagine a soaring soundtrack and ambulance ride into the sunset. I absolutely respect those readers who feel the couple needed more happy time at the end. (I'm sure Corabelle and Gavin would agree!) But the book, like life, is pretty messy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Forever Innocent September 24, 2013
    Format:Paperback
As I sit here and try to process what I have just read, I am stunned and honestly do not know where to begin this review. Do I tell you that I love that Deanna Roy has taken a personal situation she went though and turned it into an outlet so that others may know that they are not alone. Someone has been where you have been, and while no two stories of personal heartache are the same just knowing you share that same type of heartbreak might ease the pain. Or do I touch on the writing of this book. When I requested this book, I looked at the cover and the description and thought I think this is going to be a good one. Solid for sure. After reading it, I can tell you it took me to a totally new level. Highs so sweet and the lowest lows I have EVER reached in a book. (And I've read some heartbreakers) Parts of this book Chapters, 33, 34, and 35 to be exact. Made me ugly cry continuously! I just sat here and sobbed for the lost that two teenagers had endured and tried to overcome. Okay sorry maybe I should tell you a little more about the story, I don't want you to think its all tears. This book begins with Corabelle. A girl who is at best struggling to get by. She's a mother whose baby died at 7 days old then she watched her boyfriend Gavin walk out on her during the funeral never to be seen by her again. She's a student studying to be a Lit teacher trying to make some sort of headway in their life. She arrived at UCSD after a quick departure from New Mexico State. Corabelle is a quiet keep to herself type of girl. Not wanting to let anyone in who might find anything out about her past. Always afraid of what will catch up to her. Living with a guilt that she has learned to cope with by making herself blackout. Then Gavin shows up. Read more ›

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful and Incredibly Moving! October 2, 2013
    Format:Paperback
I absolutely loved Forever Innocent! I loved the characters! I loved the story! I just absolutely loved all of it! :D While there were times where the characters didn't do the things I wanted them to do, I found their reactions so realistic and so consistent with what I knew about them, that I completely understood their actions, and I loved that!

I thought that Forever Innocent was a wonderful story!!!! I was actually sad when I got to the end because I wanted more Corabelle and Gavin, so I was thrilled (and even did an inner fist bump) when I clicked my kindle past the page that said "the end" and discovered that there was going to be a sequel! I already can't wait to read it!!!!!

Forever Innocent was an incredibly memorable story and I know it's going to linger with me for a long time. Corabelle and Gavin had a baby together and lost him after only seven days. It was heart-wrenching to get to experience their moments with Finn, but it was also so beautiful...and I cried more than once. This isn't just a story about two characters who love each other. It's a story about two characters with a vivid history, one that they'll never forget, but may be able to finally move past together. I thought it was a beautiful story about dealing with loss and with the reactions and consequences that come with. Seeing both Corabelle and Gavin come to terms with their loss and changed relationship was such a fantastic reading experience and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I find that sometimes books that begin after a relationship has already been developed can leave the reader in the dark, but that definitely wasn't the case with Forever Innocent! Deanna Roy did an amazing job at filling in Corabelle and Gavin's past, and I absolutely loved how she unveiled it all.

4.0 out of 5 stars SUPER SWEET despite heavy subject matter. September 27, 2013
    By HJ
    Format:Kindle Edition
Deanna Roy writes this story about a young couple faced with tragedy and their second chance romance. I really liked the way this story was told. It starts in the present where Corabelle and Gavin are both students at UCSD, their college by the sea. They are both recovering from tragedy and healing in their own ways. For them, its the only way they know how. The story flashes back to the loss and devastation that they faced. I really liked the way it played out. It gave me as the reader the full impact of the tragedy without weighing the book down so much that it became overwhelming.

Corabelle is a bright young woman. She has suffered a horrific tragedy and was left to pick up the pieces on her own. She survived but was not left unscathed. She has never forgotten. She is weighed down with the burden of guilt and secrets that if uncovered could destroy her.

Gavin has been struggling. His father was less than ideal. When he and Corabelle were together, life made sense, things were good. All that changed the day their baby was born. Gavin was put in a situation where he was tested, and in his mind, he failed.Gavin and Corabelle were "the couple" in their hometown. The community loved them together. So when Corabelle and Gavin found out they were going to have a baby, everyone was happy. But when the baby died a short seven days later, their relationship was destroyed.

Flash forward four years. Corabelle is a shell of her former self. Those close enough to call her friend never see her smile. She is not the same girl she used to be. Neither is Gavin. He is a ball of rage and anger. Corabelle is about to restart her life in a new town at a new school. She transferred her senior year after an incident at her former University.
