In scoring this cult TV hit, Fred Mollin exhibits a flair for the bombastic and the subdued. The two extremes often battle for dominance within his synthesized orchestrations--one minute, tempestuous strings and brass surge and monstrous percussion pounds ferociously only to give way to a delicate piano or harp melody. It's an appropriate sonic clash for a series about a blood-sucking detective with a soft spot for humanity. Within this intense maelstrom of sound, however, Mollin finds order and balance with a consistent ebb and flow in drama and dynamics. In spite of its obvious synthetic qualities, Forever Knight is a dramatic illustration of the potency of electronic scores in the TV realm. Toronto torch singers Lori Yates and Molly Johnson also appear. --Bryan Reesman

Those songs make it a good CD.

I am eagerly awaiting the release of the follow-up CD by Crescendo in the winter on 98 or Spring of 99...it promises much more Nick and LaCroix moments!

As such, this album would be a good addition to any collection, and I highly recommend it.

As a long-time fan of the series, I originally bought this CD in the hopes of finding a particular piece of music from the TV series, but ever since I first listened to it, I've fallen in love all oevr again with Fred Mollins' darkly lyrical music. An even greater joy was the inclusion of Nigel Bennett as the voice of the series' dark lord "LaCroix", speaking the words and thoughts of LaCroix. The series may be ended, but thanks to this recording, the soul of FOREVER KNIGHT lives on!

Being an FK fan to the core, even though I only recently discovered the show, I ran out and bought the CD without sampling it, just the theme music makes it worth buying!!! The vocals of Lori Yates are fantastic...still haven't decided which song is my fave, it's a toss up between the Hunger and Dark Side of the Glass. For anyone interested in listening to some spectacular music...GO BUY THIS CD!!!! You won't regret it!!! I think that Geraint Wyn Davies does a out-of-this-world job on the piano (Nick's Piano Theme has to be my fave piece of the whole CD)....and what can I say, I love Fred Mollin! I have listened to the CD non-stop, for weeks now, without tiring of it (I bet the rest of my collection feels neglected!!!) When can we get another CD from FK????!!! Please let it be soon!!! One truly satisfied customer.

Being a Forever Knight fan myself, I knew there was no way I could go without this CD, especially after the show's cancellation. I must say it is mesmerizing. Nigel Bennett's monlogues and Lori Yates' vocals are the real highlight of this album. Nigel knows exactly what needs to be put forward for LaCroix and we almost feel as if we're listening to a live Nightcrawler broadcast--makes me wish there were such a late-night radio show! Lori is phenomenal, as usual, gracing us with her song, bringing the voice of the lost and desperate vampire center stage and allowing us FK fans to re-live many a Forever Knight memory(a good thing for us who still mourn the cancellation!). Fred Mollin--what can I say? A true master of his craft. He knows just what we want to hear and lays it out for us just within our grasp. It's electronic and monotone, yes, but since when did a vampire need extra instrumentation to accentuate his emotions? LaCroix had his violin, Nick the piano(and and impressive turn for Geraint Wyn Davies with his rendition of Nick's theme on track 7!) I am eagerly awaiting the release of the follow-up CD by Crescendo in the winter on 98 or Spring of 99...it promises much more Nick and LaCroix moments! All hail to Fred Mollin, Forever Knight soundtrack God! \/'' ''\/

This CD can please everybody. You can listen to 14 instrumentals songs that's gonna remind you scene of your favourite serie, one of theme is perfomed by Nick (GWD). You can also listen to 4 of Lacroix's monologues, they are short but very good. And you can listen to 4 songs with lyrics with the vocal by Lori Yates, the voice that you're use to hear at the Raven. My favourites are The Hunger (#2), Dark Side of the Glass (#22) and the Forever Knight Theme (#1) I also love all 4 of Lacroix's monologues (#3,10,14,21) and Nick's piano theme (#7). But they are all very, very, very good.
If you are a Forever Knight fan you're gonna love this CD, actually if you're an FK fan you can't live without this CD. So my advice is: Buy as many CD as you can afford, you need one at home, one at work, on in your car(maybe a tape) on at all your friends and relatives house. You're gonna want to listen to it 24 hours a day.
I got it a month ago and my CD player doesn't stop playing it, I'm listening to it all the time ( it's playing right now). It's a WONDERFUL CD.

This Cd is the first Forever Knight one I purchased. It blew me away. I can't get enough of listening to it. All music on this album reminds me of the series which was and is the best on TV. This is also a must for all Forever Knight fans. It is haunting and will give hours of listening pleasure.

The music has an almost classical sound to it. The vocals in the songs are pop but sad, as in sorrowful.
Like the famous Star Wars soundtracks, this music makes you aware of the fierce determination of its hero. However, instead of a large orchestra playing the instrumentals, you hear only a few instruments - giving you a feeling of the loneliness and isolation of the subject of the songs & music. The dominant instruments are strings, with some brass thrown in, and occasionally some percussion to add some punctuation.
Also, whereas the music of the Star Wars movie charges along like an army unchallenged, the music of Forever Knight seems to walk slowly along under a dark thundercloud. You definitely get a sense of a character who is trying to compress a single lifetime into all of eternity. Like a Tai Chi martial artist he is not squandering his energy, but neither is he shying away from using it when the time is right.
This is the theme music of a character who is not trying to make, change, or control his world - just save the little pieces of it that he finds dear.
If you are a Forever Knight fan, one copy of this CD is barely enough. Familiar scenes will pop into your head when you listen to it. The actors' and actresses' faces will appear in your mind's eye.
If you are not a fan of the series but just like somber classical music and an occasional pop ballad, I think you will also like this song. This is not music for a birthday party. It is not a celebration of the moment: it is for listening to while reflecting on the past.
