This one gives me that achy heart-in-the-throat feeling....,
By A Customer
This review is from: Forever in My Heart (G K Hall Large Print Book Series) (Hardcover)
I don't know if the previous reviewer was just confused or incredibly rude (writing a review on a completely different story/author), but since i love this book so much, I feel it deserves better representation. Maggie Dennehy's story is one in a series about sisters that find love in their own time. The entire series is excellent, but Maggie's story is different for several reasons. First, Ms. Goodman uses a great point-of-view gimmick in the first chapters that gives the reader two entirely different views of one long, emotional night. Second, Maggie is quiet and contemplative in her strength, which is a startling contrast to her sisters. Connor, the hero, is as moved by Maggie's ability to read him as I was by the genuine feel of their evolving relationship. Supporting characters are by turns amusing(Dancer) and infuriating(Beryl); they give the story great texture. Jo Goodman nurtures in her audience such an affection for her characters that it's difficult to rank her stories, but the Dennehy series is my favorite, and of the Dennehy's, Maggie is definitely at the top of my list. The play of selfishness and generosity among all the characters makes you realize why it is that the love story is so compelling. Maggie's story takes formula romance and fleshes it out with substantial writing and characters who make the same mistakes we do, and in the magic of fiction, gives us a happily-ever-after that's worth all the emotional work.

One of my favourite Goodman's,

This review is from: Forever in My Heart (Zebra Historical Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Oh, man. This is among my favourite of Jo Goodman's novels (the other being My Reckless Heart), and so I must defend it against the rather bizarre and, in fact, not wholly accurate slander raised against it in an earlier review. Maggie and Connor's story is beatiful - incredibly romantic, very hot, full of poignancy, humour and - well, it's very emotionally complex; Goodman shows, she doesn't tell, which always makes a nice change in a romance novel. What struck me was the integrity of the two characters - I really liked Maggie and Connor as two people trying to do the right thing. True, there was a Great Misunderstanding but it's awfully easy to forgive when the characters are so beautifully drawn. So - read this book! Read the entire series (and, indeed, Goodman's entire repetoire; she's one of the best romance writers out there in terms of consistent quality and - dare I say it - intelligent romance). Writing this review has reminded me why I liked it so much in the first place - I'm off to re-read...

Best in this series,

I thought this was the best in the series. I loved the way we saw the beginning events from both characters point of view. That was awesome. I also loved that there is real conflict, not just, meet, fall in love, get together, as with so many romance novels. This is a great author and I can't wait to read more of her books. Do not even read the negative review because that person did not even finish the book and should not have even posted such misguided review!
