4.0 out of 5 stars If you're an r&b fan, this cd is a must
This is definately the best album Jodeci put out over the years. With songs such as "Come & Talk to Me" and "Stay" " any fan of r&b should have this cd in their collection. The last half dozen songs on the album are mediocre at best, most of those being more fast paced type of cuts. Jodeci never was and never will be a fast paced...

3.0 out of 5 stars Put tracks #1 to #5 on continuous repeat and u got 5 stars
Jodeci's freshman album was a definite hit and it put these church boys from down south on the international map of secular music. However, Jodeci knows love songs not dance beats and fails in its efforts at upbeat tunes. If this cd was recordable, I would record over all songs after track #5. Even with the medicore and half-assed songs that fill the rest of the album...

This is definately the best album Jodeci put out over the years. With songs such as "Come & Talk to Me" and "Stay" " any fan of r&b should have this cd in their collection. The last half dozen songs on the album are mediocre at best, most of those being more fast paced type of cuts. Jodeci never was and never will be a fast paced type of group, it's just not their thing. The slow jams are when they're at their best such as on "stay" and "forever my lady." If it weren't for the less than memorable last half of the cd, it would have gotten the full five stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Forever a Jodeci fan....., April 26, 2002

Jodeci first released their debut album Forever My Lady in 1991. They have been noted as sparking off the freaky, bump-and-grind flavored songs that we now know so well. This quartet knew how to make awesome slow-jams that younger people could relate to. Jodeci paved the way for the R&B boy bands of today like 112, Dru Hill, Jagged Edge, Silk and countless others. In my opinion, Forever My Lady was a musical masterpiece. Never before had we been serenaded with such smooth, sexy ballads like this. My favorite song is "Stay", where Jodeci made begging sound so good. The best thing about Jodeci other than their music and lyrics was their ability to harmonize. They gave the cautious, mellow songs of the 90s a rough edge and urban flavor. Let's remember that they were the bad boys of the R&B music scene at this time. Next up is "Come & Talk To Me" and "Forever My Lady" where the group displayed their distinct style and made their mark on the music industry. These four crooners showed their soft side with "U & I", a pledge to everlasting love. On the other hand, "Gotta Love" was their contribution to the New Jack Swing R&B movement with its upbeat tempo and hip-hop groove. Overall, Jodeci and Forever My Lady taught us how to get down and dirty, have true love and go half on a baby...what more can I say.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREATEST FIRST FIVE SONGS....EVER., January 29, 2005
By
This review is from: Forever My Lady (Audio CD)
I'm giving this album five stars for the first five songs only. What they did after those 5 songs, I dont care. The first 5 are all that I need (in fact, I honestly dont think I even let the disc get past 'U&I', I simply hit "start over") They persist today to be my favorite slow songs of all time (and this album was released in 1991!!). WOW. This was Jodeci's best album. Period. They were NEVER able to come close to 'Stay', 'Come and Talk To Me', 'Forever My Lady' 'I'm Still Waiting' and 'U&I'. This album is a classic, and to think that there are kids out there who have never even heard some of these songs (shame). Slow jams dont sound like this anymore.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Classic-Their Best CD, May 30, 2005
This review is from: Forever My Lady (Audio CD)
It's almost hard to believe that this is considered old school and has been 13 years since it's release.Every track on this album is stellar. The smooth harmonies from the four members really shine on the ballads and the hip hop uptempo beat doesn't overpower them on the fast tracks.Every song is simply perfection, whether it's Stay, I'm Still Waiting, or Gotta Love.

5.0 out of 5 stars Debut Album: Forever My Lady, January 17, 2005

This album went triple platinum, which at the time did not happen for too many male R&B Groups, which says another thing for its self. A majority of the songs on the album are good. You may have to skip through a few songs or so, but like many other reviewers have said and I have to agree... The slow songs are a lot better than the up-tempo one's. The only up-tempo songs I really could enjoy were, "My Phone," "X's We Share," and "Gotta Love" is okay. Aside from a few up-tempo songs, this album is good. If you ask me you should get this album if you are a Jodeci fan, all twelve songs on the album are worth it, if you compare with a lot of the music out now!

5.0 out of 5 stars The first 5 songs..., December 18, 2006
This review is from: Forever My Lady (Audio CD)
are all that you need to listen to on this CD. They carry the rest of the album which concludes with a few uptempo songs that i dont really care for. But that doesnt distract or take away from this CD at all.

The first song "Stay" is classic and should be listened to by anyone that wonders what it means to make/sing a great song from beginning to end and the four songs that follow "Come & Talk To Me", "Forver My Lady", "I'm Still Waiting" and "U&I". All make this CD something that should be listened to by each and everyone regardless of your musical tastes.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is still a classic to this day! Nice ballads!, December 5, 2004
This review is from: Forever My Lady (Audio CD)
I'd get this album today if I wanted to, because this group just tore it up in '91 and much of '92 with songs from this debut! The three ballad hits, Forever My Lady (the jam!), Stay, and Come and Talk To Me have modern new jack touches, but are steeped in the classic R&B style of past groups. They were smart to place the smoother ballads first. The second half of the dance numbers are good; there are a few missteps, but the ballads still are the group's strongest suit. K-CI still is one of the best male singers from the '90s and it has helped in he and his brother's duo albums. The songs that Al B. Sure, Devante Swing and others produced on this album are very superb! Devante's songs stand out from many of the others! I hope that Jodeci considers recording a new album in the future. It would be another hit for them if they did it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic, February 24, 2002
This review is from: Forever My Lady (Audio CD)
High Top Fades, Starter Jackets, hoodies, backwards hats....those were the days. Jodeci stormed onto the scene during this 'era' with Forever My Lady; an Instant Classic. Consisting of K-Ci, JoJo, DeVante Swing, Mr. Dalvin; This collective became R&B icons throughout the early nineties. They went on to influence many (Dru Hill anyone?) and produced numerous classics that people still love and play to this day. The first five songs are nothing short of genius. Each of these songs is a masterpiece. Sonic Bliss. Even though the last six songs are as special as the first five, they aren't that bad and this cd is still a work of art. There is nothing better than listening to a cd and remembering all the memories that came with it. That is when music becomes more than just music. A must for R&B fans

jodeci just makes some of the greatest slow jams there is. I was only 12 when this album came out and it had a big impact on me. First of all, forever my lady was always on the radio, come & talk to me related to me having crushes on diffrent girls in school. I definitely fell in love with this album from beginning to end. Whether it was stay, or alright, gotta love or U&I. This kicked off the 90's right.
