5.0 out of 5 stars A-Ha is MUCH more than an 80's, January 6, 2003
This review is from: Forever Not Yours (Audio CD)
Many Americans will be very pleasantly suprised and amazed at what A-ha is doing these days. These guys are HUGE all over the world except for the US. I have no idea why this country is so sadly deprived of this truly SPECTACULAR music. Songs off of their Lifelines (2002) album include stunning epic-style songs rich with pop-orchestral beauty, others are rather funky, techno-pop style, while others have a more "unplugged sound. My suggestion would be to get the entire Lifelines album AND their 2000 album "Minor Earth Major Sky" and feast on those two to begin with, as these 2 albums are a-ha's best work. You will love them. Their earlier albums lack only in producing and engineering, but a-ha's talent is just as evident even then. To see a couple videos, go to a-ha dotcom. You'll see the videos for "Forever Not Yours" and the beautifully haunting "Lifelines". Make sure to click onto the flash video link as well to see a flash video for "I Wish I Cared" off their "Minor Earth.." album. This song alone must be heard on a great stereo system to be fully appreciated. YOU WILL LOVE A-HA!!! They're now my favorite group and I can't get enough. Now if they'll just tour in the US someday. :)

4.0 out of 5 stars almost perfect, July 17, 2002

Yes, I would give to the first track FNY only 4 stars- maybe it's because it's in every radio playlist on this planet...
Differences -is just a simple ballad (real demo) but very sweet.
What really amazed me at first sight-live versions. HHAL - is perfect !!! especially the end of the song. I wish they release no live album...

5.0 out of 5 stars Forever Not Yours - first single from a-ha's new album!, April 24, 2002

For those of you who think a-ha's last album was "Hunting High and Low" in 1996, you'll be pleasantly surprised to listen to "Forever Not Yours", the first single from a-ha's forthcoming album, 'Lifelines'.

To me, this song is perfect for roadtrips and the hazy days of summer driving. It also reflects a wide range of emotions: it can be alternately upbeat or melancholy, depending on the listener's mood.

Give this CD single a try, I think you'll find that the song sticks with you! Morten, Magne, and Paul have come up with another wonderful offering.

4.0 out of 5 stars they're baaaack!, April 9, 2002
This review is from: Forever Not Yours (Audio CD)
I only found out this past winter that a-ha had made a comeback in 2000. Even though the news was a little late, I was so happy to discover that one of my favorite bands from the 80s is back!! After falling in love with them all over again listening to their 2000 Minor Earth Major Sky album, I'm happy to say they've done it again. Their latest release is a catchy, symphonic melody. Morten Harket's falsettos are still as strong and clear as ever. Backed by a calming piano and strings, it's easy for this song to get stuck in your head all day - and that's a good thing! Because this was produced by Stephen Hague, best known for his work with New Order and the Pet Shop Boys, you can hear his trademark poppy beat in the background. I hope this gets its much-deserved airplay in the US! It's really a sweet, catchy song... worth a listen for any a-ha fan... and may even turn you into one!
