weird how things work out...,
By J. Doe "J. Doe" (Pennsylvania) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Forever Scorned (Audio CD)
just a few days before i saw this come out [then exclusively for itunes] i had been saying i wish they'd rerecord it or something...because the original version was the first hardcore cd i'd ever heard and i like the new sound and had wondered what they'd do with their old stuff now that they've really gotten big [ozzfest, major hardcore label, etc, etc, etc] and i love what they did. the songs sound bigger...meaner...and more professional. my only complaints are that his voice doesn't really stand up to what it was on the original recording...it sounds like he's trying a lot harder to achieve the same level of intensity...and the music, while better quality, loses a little bit of it's original 'brutality', almost to the point of sounding overrehearsed. the remakes of Bridges Left Burning, The Requiem For Broken Hearts and Blood Stained Bed Sheet Burden [especially this one...what most people are not aware of is that this is the third recording of this song...it was originally on their first three song ep along with two other songs 'The Last Face She'll Ever See' and 'The Heart String Fallacy'...two amazing IDT songs...download them...and use Aresgalaxy.org to do it...and then the second recording of the song was the first version of Forever Scorned...this new one is the best one though...they completely obliterate the song and do away with the whiny singing part in the middle...which i always thought sounded really bad] are well worth getting the cd alone...the other songs are good too, but those three are the bangers. Roll Deep.

If you like "Bleeding through, as i lay dying, the red chord, between the buried and me" and all those types of insane metal bands youll enjoy It Dies Today just as well. Expect the unexpected with this album. The breakdowns, the harmonics.... it all fits in great in one big smash of insanity. two thumbs up in my oppinion. Its GREAT stuff!!!

This is a brutal heavy metal album by it dies today this is really awesome. The heaviest stuff you'll find by them is here nick's screams are freaking brutal going from screaming to death metal growls but you also see some of that in the caitiff choir which is also a good brutal album. This is one of the heaviest "metalcore" albums ever you won't regret getting this one it's fast, heavy, brutal, and just amazing. The fact that nick left sucks big time check out his last album with the band sirens it's not like their first two albums but there's some good heavy songs. This album is what i call their masterpiece!

I haven't heard It Dies Today's new CD but this album is pretty extreme. There is a lot of Gothenburg influence here but what really struck out to me was their long songs and absolutely brutal breakdowns. This is an emotional CD but it never gets too whiny or too emo-ey in fact there is only like 30 seconds of clean singing total on this CD. What really stands out is the breakdowns, and the singer's brutal death metal voice during these earth-crushing breakdowns. Unlike some hardcore bands, these guys break it down like 5 or 6 times per song, so get ready. Good band, but On Broken Wings owns the whole metalcore scene in my opinion.

4 Star EP,
This review is from: Forever Scorned (Audio CD)
Blood Stained Bedsheet Burden, what a great name for a song! This band is amazing! The vocalist has one of the most brutal screams/growls I've ever heard. I know these fellas just got signed to Trustkill, and Trust Me, they are going to take over the Hardcore/Metal world. They are brutal, and this 6 song EP, Forever scorned represents everything that is positive in metal today! Forget about bands like Eighteen Visions who are abandoning thier sound for more pop appeal. Buy this CD, you wont regret, and if you like it, check out some other bands that are keeping it real like Through the Eyes of the Dead, Unearth, Killswitch Engage, Evergreen Terrace, and of course Stryper!!

A phenomenal debut abounding in poetic brilliance,

"Forever Scorned," from the metalcore group It Dies Today, is truly astounding. This album contains easily some of the most open, unique, innovative lyrics in the genre to date. I see this record as more of a work of art or poetry than a musical piece...but perhaps that's because I'm so brainwashed with modern metalcore music, and how it all follows the same pattern and flow. While it is true that "Forever Scorned" is nowhere near as catchy or easy to listen to as It Dies Today's most recent release, "The Caitiff Choir," this record follows a unique open verse song structure that allows the lyrics, emotions, messages and images to be heard and seen much more clearly. And they are quite ingenious lyrics, as well. Not only are the lyrics terrific, but this band has an incredible amount of energy and charisma, as can be especially seen in their live performances. All in all, "Forever Scorned" is ripe with subtle lyrical analogies, crushing breakdowns, and melodic harmonies, and is a must have for not only fans of the genre, but for any enthusiast of intellectual, emotional, creative poetic work. Five stars.

Amazing,

ITD is probably my favorite metal band at the time. All 6-songs on Forever Scorned, in my opinion are amazing. ITD knows how to bring mosh. They have the perfect blend of aggressive metal with melody and monstrous "hardcore" breakdowns. All members in the band are extremely talented. With their recent signing to Trustkill a couple months ago, they have finished recording their debut album "The Catiff Choir," which will be released on September 21. I've already heard 3 songs off of the new album. It's definitely a change, a change for the better. Don't get me wrong, their sound hasn't changed completely. I don't know how to describe the change. Nevertheless, the lead singer Nick, has the ability to growl as well as sing. Pick up their album.....I can't wait for them to do a West-Coast tour. |
