3.0 out of 5 stars Starts With a Bang, Ends With a Whimper March 1, 2011
Format:Audio CD
Chances are, if you enjoy music like this, you've heard all of these songs before. And that's not to dismiss this album or this band completely, but I'll admit after hearing their last EP, and how upbeat and energetic it was, I had high hopes for this full-length.

But these songs are a bit more mellow, and a bit more somber at times, and by the end of the album, the band is in full sappy ballad mode. Think Relient K, without the sweeping hooks and clever lyrics. The problem is, those two things are what make songs (and bands like Relient K) memorable.

And this album is good, but it is far from memorable. These songs have been done over and over by band after band, to the point which you can't tell the songs or bands apart. The music is nondescript. This was what occurred with hair metal in the early 1990's. It was all well and good in the mid-late 1980's when the sound was fresh and original, but five years later, there were a hundred "copycat" bands making the same type of music, and it just became stale and tedious.

This band does have a knack for writing a catchy melody, and the production is very good. But this album could have been so much better. Some of the songs will stick with you, and that is what they are supposed to do. But there is nothing earth shattering on here, and unfortunately, there needs to be in order to put this band above all of its contemporaries. Sadly, without faster, more melodic, and more uptempo songs, this just becomes another album in an endless parade of albums exactly like it, by bands who have been trying to achieve the same exact sound since about 2005.

4.0 out of 5 stars Short, but solid March 1, 2011
By Tim G
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
Listened to this album a few times through and that's only possible because it was over so fast. What's here is solid - it's catchy, fun, and when you turn it up it jumps. There's a neat sound theme to this album as well, and you can hear it through most of the songs - Listen to "What Happened to Emotion?" and you will start hearing recurring elements throughout the album. I gotta note the feeling is different than previous FTSK efforts - definitely not as in your face fun as Underdog Alma Mater, but it still works. And you can't beat that Amazon price.

wow, FTSK has done it again! This album brought me back to Underdog Alma Mater, which is the reason I ever fell in love with FTSK. I'm glad they brought their old sound back, and I think this album shows who they are completely. Love hearing more vocals from Caleb! So proud of you boys!!!!

I instantly fell in love with this album the first time I listened to it.
There are songs for practically every mood you might be in.
It seems as though Caleb sings more on this album which makes me happy because I love his voice.
