2006 collection by one of the longest-lasting British Modern/Alternative bands around. They've survived the Baggy/Madchester scene of the early '90s, the Britpop explosion of the mid-late '90s and have continued to release albums of exceptional quality. This 18 track compilation gathers up 18 of their singles including 'The Only One I Know', 'Indian Rope', 'North Country Boy' and the 2006 version of 'You're So Pretty, We're So Pretty'. Island.

For starters, all the hits are here; the chronology is immaterial because the songwriting and performances are top notch. The remastering adds punch and, I feel, an overall edginess to each track. Listening to these songs, track by track, reaffirms that The Charlatans are a brilliant act; there is strength in their diversity; although the songs vary in approach, given the time frame, it is the absolute character of this band that shines through. I must admit, I have everything they've ever done, but this collection is still a stunner on all fronts.
A must for long time fans and and a great introduction for anyone interested in great music.
