5.0 out of 5 stars This Series Is Only Getting Better
This latest offering from author W.J. Lundy goes to show that zombie, excuse me, primals, can still be scary, so the date of release is no coincidence. Just like any great Halloween scare, this book will grab you up and not let go. The monsters here are strong, fast, and unfortunately seem to be getting smarter as we follow Brad, Sean and Brookes on yet another madcap adventure. Unlike many books in this genre, OTDLF takes place in parts of the world unfamiliar to most of us, and this sense of dislocation only serves to make the shocks more jarring. Mr. Lundy has great skill in describing the scene and making you feel like you are right there in the wind and dirt.

There are some truly frightening scenes, especially aboard the offshore platform, and at times we see even the normally unflappable SEALs seem momentarily at a loss as to their next step. These characters are three dimensional and human, with mortal weaknesses and moments of indecision, and I really like some of the new characters added at the beginning. I don't want to give any spoilers here but the overall story gets moved forward significantly in this book. I hope we don't have to wait too long for the next installment. Bring it on.

From the Author

I developed the Whiskey Tango Foxtrot series from notes and ideas I had put together while deployed to Afghanistan.  I had been jokingly asked how we would defend against a zombie attack.  I wanted to tell a story that portrays the military that I know, that displays our actual capabilities.  These are my thoughts, I hope you enjoy them, and thank you for reading.

More About the Author

W. J. Lundy is a still serving Veteran of the U.S. Military with service in Afghanistan. He has over 14 years of combined service with the Army and Navy in Europe, the Balkans and Southwest Asia. W.J. is an avid athlete, writer, backpacker and shooting enthusiast. He currently resides with his wife and daughter in Central Michigan.

I developed the Whiskey Tango Foxtrot series from notes and ideas I had put together while deployed to Afghanistan. I had been jokingly asked how we would defend against a zombie attack. Escaping the Dead was written in a small spiral notebook and later clicked one key at a time into a word document once I arrived back home. At the success of the short story the series was born.

All along I wanted to tell a story that portrays the military that I know, the people I serve with, their characteristics, and something that shows our true actual capabilities. These are my thoughts, I hope you enjoy them, and thank you for reading.

A new and different prospective on the zombie genre. Book 1 hooked me and I can't wait for each new installment. Well written, fast action, no downtime, will keep you interested! This third book is the best yet, and I look forward to the continuation of the story.

I'm looking forward to the next book. Too many Zombie books try to deliver on the action but fail. These books deliver in spades. I think I might read the other two again because they are that good.

Another quality book from Mr Lundy. I found his book to be well worth the wait - the story evolves and moves along at a fairly snapping pace while managing not to be shallowly grazing over the circumstances in which the characters find themselves. The oil platform was truly scary and other scenes away from it - don't want to tell too much - were possessed of a bug eyed WTF feel. Hopefully there will be a sequel soon - loved this book - highly recomend.

These are hard as wood pecker lips!! Can't cut any slack when you're popping zombies(or whatever you want to call them). These novels really move along and keep you turning the pages. Recommend this series for anyone interested in military post-apocalyptic fiction.

The story continues right were the last one ended. The continuation and story telling is really good and like the other books, draws you into the story and the characters. Continuous twits and turns will make it hard to put down.
Look forward to the authors other books. Highly recommend the series - to get the most out of the story, you will want to read the previous book. Also highly recommended.

This series continues to thrill and exhilarate me. I never thought that I would appreciate or understand a war-based series but these characters and their adventures have been wonderful, terrifying, and touching at the same time. I have come to know and admire these rough men (and a few women) through their interactions, and behaviors. There is not too much introspection as the story moves too quickly for philosophical digressions, but their friendships and reliance on each other reflects the depth of relationships to each other. There is plenty of battle rattle to suit the readers who track that info but not too much for those of us unmoved but such detail. The real story is solid and there. I recommend the series without reservation.
