Let me start by saying that I preordered this book and got it the day before release. And let me just say that I was not disappointed. It was everything that the preview said it would be. Farah Rochon has the ability to create such a detailed visual image. I escape to that place and in this case it's Gauthier, LA.

I love how Xavier and Shayla's relationship developed. It was nice to see Xavier go from being the hunted to the hunter. In spite of all of the women who came into the ER in their Sunday best trying to get Xavier's attention all it really took was a little bit of bed hair, a T-shirt with fresh vomit on it, and Minnie Mouse slippers to get his attention.

I think that two of the best parts were when Xavier and Shayla had their argument in the ED, and Shayla put him in his place, and when Xavier gave the recollection of the scene to his sister and she couldn’t stop laughing.

Both Xavier and Shayla had their demons to conquer and with each other they managed to do that. They were so much alike. They both left prosperous careers for something that was more valuable... the need to help others. In life they have learned that happiness did not always mean prosperity. Some things were more valuable than money.

It was nice to see some characters from previous books appear as well such as Matt and Tamryn, Jamal and Phil, and Myra and Corey. I would have liked to have seen a glimpse of Xavier and Shayla's future, perhaps a wedding and some babies.

Farrah you have become a part of my coveted top five authors. That means that I will buy/preorder your books just because you wrote them, because they're guaranteed to be good reads.

Well done and much enjoyed!

The latest installment in the Bayou Dreams series and it was a great read. The story told of tragedy brings Shayla Kirkland back home to reconnect with her brother’s wife and children. Shayla is determined to build a relationship in hopes of assuaging her guilt for not being there when her brother needed her. In the midst of reconnecting with her nieces, Shayla stumbles upon Xavier Wright during a freak accident in the emergency room. To say these two don’t hit it off during their initial meeting is an understatement. Sparks are apparent but after Xavier accuses Shayla, she blasts him and his good looks. This only intrigues Mr. Wright and he sets out on a venture to win Shayla’s affection. Of course, Shayla’s focus is on her nieces and feels she only has time for her business and family. Xavier is a determined man and feels there is something there. Will these two overcome the obstacles they face to pursue a relationship and find that connection? Readers will need to pick Forever’s Promise to find out.
I thoroughly enjoyed this installment better than the last as that readers will glimpse a side of both Shayla and Xavier that will pull at the heartstrings and have you rooting for this couple to make a go of the relationship. At times Shayla will make you want to shake her because she is too focus but Xavier is there to provide the balance she needs. This was a good read.

Shayla moved back home for her nieces. She had come to learn that family it the most important thing in a person's life. Dr. Xavier Wright also values family but his broken engagement made him not stay anchored in any one place. Dr. Wright, being a very attractive single hot man, makes the women in the small community of Gauthier finding every excuse they can to make a trip to the clinic to be treated by him. Shayla is the one exception especially when he accuses her of using her youngest niece as an excuse to go the emergency room where he is working. The pain of their pasts and the importance of family sends them on a path that carves out their futures.

This was another great story in the Bayou Dreams series by Farrah Rochon. After the death of her brother, Shayla Kirkland returns to Gauthier to reconnect with her family. Running her coffe shop and helping take care of her nieces is all Shayla needs until she meets the sexy E.R. Doctor, Xavier Wright.
Shayla and Xavier's romance was a sweet and wonderful story. I always enjoy returning to the fictional town of Gauthier and catching up on the lives of other couples from past books. I know sooner or later we will run out of people in the town to read about but I hope the series continues or we get a spinoff series.

Set in Gauthier, LA, this is a story about family and making time for love.

Farrah Rochon does an excellent job at creating a story line that keeps your attention while making you empathize with the hero and heroine. She's a new favorite author.

I don't read a lot of these, so I can't compare it to any of the author's other novels. I wanted to read this one because the book is set in my home state, Louisiana. It was cute and sweet. The most interesting part to me was the fact that it becomes clear that the couple wants to be together, but other (family, responsibilities) circumstances in their lives pose a challenge. They figure out the way they feel; what they don't know is whether the universe will align so that they can be together. Neither wanted to shirk responsibility just to be with the person they loved. That was a nice.
