A very good book that makes you feel the pain that the Jews have felt. To try a turn this around and say look how horrible the Jews are is totally insane. The Jews should be commended on being able to keep a cool head after so long. Any other ethnic group of people who would have experienced this would have carried out equal horrible attrocities upon their oppressors. To whine and say what was mentioned in the book was cowardly is pothetic.

Though horrible and shocking, this book shows how the human spirit cannot be surpressed. In spite of an absolute impossibility of success, a small handfull of men kept the spirit of survival and revenge alive during the darkest period in history. While revenge may seem inappropriate in our concept of ideal society, at that time, no other emotion is conceivable! This book very clearly shows how revenge was a natural outgrowth of the horrors of the holocost.

A comprehensive chronology of Jewish resistence to the Nazis and their collaborators from the late 30's through the war. It also details complicity of the Central and Eastern Europeans with the Nazis, the apathy of the "Allies" during the war, and the shameful behavior of the world after the war with respect to refugees, Nazi criminals and Israel. This book will make you proud if your Jewish and angry if your human (Jewish or otherwise).

The anguish and utter isolation of the Jews of Europe during the Holocaust is felt in this book as few other works have managed to portray. The utter disbelief by the Jewish victims that the Germans would commit such attrocities against them day after day, month after month and year after year screams out at the reader from the pages of this remarkable book. Michael Elkins writes in white hot rage against an uncaring and conniving world which by looking away encouraged the Germans, and those Europeans who passively and actively collaborated with them, in the systematic slaughter of millions of Jewish men, women and children.

Even more memorable are his stories of those few survivors who somehow managed to fight back against the German military might, and came together after the killing was over to avenge the millions of Jewish ghosts who yet hovered over the European hell.

Elkins keeps his work to the point. He does not hide the facts, but tells them as they really were. For a real close look at the holocaust, this book is a perfect read

Wow. Possibly the most amazing book I've read. Elkins is furious and this oozes from his writing. How then does it not come across as an emotional diatribe??? This was simply great writing and story telling. The events are interesting. The people are interesting. That the book is fact shocked and depressed me. How much have I already heard about the holocaust? I've seen Schindler's List. I've seen footage of the bodies on the History Channel. I'm reasonably well informed. But this book......this book not only seemed to make the known more real and vivid, it told an incredible and dramatic story I never heard before. I loaned my only copy to a friend and he is just as blown away. I think I'll buy another.

I can't believe this book is out of print and so hard to get.
This book is about remembering and we need to have it available so that more people can pick it up, read it and REMEMBER!
I guarantee that once it is picked up it will not be put down until you have finished it.
History is not easy reading, holocaust history is even harder to read, Elkins is a writer through and through and though the topic is horrendous he makes it readable and more important he makes it unforgettable.
How does one go about making sure a book stays in print?
I don't know but I hope someone who does reads this and does something about it...

This phenomenal, exhilarating book reads like Clancy Segal or a souped-up Alan Furst. How was Germany readmitted to the family of nations so quickly after the war, given what they did, instead of being salted like Carthage and its population scattered? (I know the sad answer, but still.) One of the best non-fiction books I've ever read.

The Jewish attempt at indiscriminate genocide of innocent defeated Germans deserves to be widely known, and this includes the complicity of such Jewish luminaries as Chaim Weizmann himself, who co-operated in finding a deadly vector to spread in the water reservatories of the destroyed German cities. Everything is in this book, from sordid cowardly murder, to the true attempted genocide of Germans by Jews. Elkins covers the identity of his terrorist acquaintances under false names, but confirmation is here through another book: "The Seventh Million" by Tom Segev, narrating the exact same events. If you're tired of constant brainwashing, if you want to know more and have learned to read between the lines, read both these books and gape in astonishment.
