Editorial Reviews

“As always there is passion, intrigue and danger in this darkly romantic story, but it is the potential for the melding of series and characters that gives Forged an extra dash of excitement.”—RT Book Reviews
“The World of the Nightwalkers gets more interesting with each book, as we encounter new species and the battle lines are drawn between good and evil. The world building is superb as the author begins to flesh out and color in this new world.”—The Good, The Bad, and The Unread
“A very good addition to a highly entertaining paranormal series.”—Fresh Fiction
“There’s something to be said when you finish a book and immediately want the next book in the series. Jacquelyn Frank’s The World of the Nightwalkers . . . is just that kind of series.”—Bad Ass Book Reviews

More About the Author

Hi there. It's me! Again. Time to update some more. Trying to keep up with this and realizing I haven't updated this since 2012. (It's 2015 right now) I've expanded my online presence to include Facebook and Twitter, a website a blog and every other bleeping thing there is out there in the cyber world. Was finding it hard to manage all that exposure and get work done at the same time. I am writing under two names (JAX is for my steamier stuff...and yes, it does get steamier!) And I am in over half a dozen languages now! INCUDING a full line of NIGHTWALKERS audio books with the glorious narration of the superb Xe Sands. I'm thrilled with the job she did!

NIGHTWALKER, the final book in the NIGHTWALKER series has just debuted and my fingers are crossed that it will do well.

I'm still living in Asheville, NC. My kitty family has dwindled to a mere eight cats. I was fostering and...I found it so hard to trust anyone would give them a better home than me! Is that ego or arrogance or just trust issues?

Email will always be welcomed. I am a tech queen and my laptop has grown roots into my thighs. (And my bottom has grown them into my recliner). I am so thrilled about all of my books and I want to know what everyone thinks of them! I think it would be fascinating to hear what my readers would like to see happen in the Nightwalker world as the series ends. I receive emails at these days. Feel free to say hi!

If you haven't tried me, please do. I always recommend starting with JACOB. Or if you don't want to invest in a series, go for DRINK OF ME. It's a stand alone.

Hugs and Kitties,
Jacquelyn Frank

For obvious reasons (see "Hearts of Stone" page), I'm very fond of reading stories that feature gargoyles as the heroes (or far more rarely, the heroines). So after being so entranced by the World of the Nightwalkers series by Ms. Frank, I was ecstatic to see one of the gargoyles that fought so fiercely in earlier books to protect the Nightwalkers get his own book. And I wasn't disappointed. Ahnvil was a fabulous hero.

Poor Ahnvil - he had a really horrid early portion of his life as a gargoyle. He really did what he absolutely had to and broke free of the Bodywalker who had created him in tehe first place, having done some dreadful things. Since then, he's lived a life of heroism protecting the good Bodywalkers. So of course when he's captured, no one can doubt how terrifying that must have been for him. And yet, despite the impending threat of madness and ultimately permanent stone-shape if he doesn't get back to his touchstone in time, he never entirely loses the goodness that's deep in his core.
Katrina - I can't say I was entirely surprised when the truth about her was revealed. There wasn't anything too obvious about it, but it just made sense in the end that she was what she was. And when she discovered the truth, she used her new skill set to escape what could have been a very nasty end for her after she's captured by the power-hungry Bodywalker.
The Nightwalker world keeps expanding and I'm fascinated to see where Ms. Frank takes the reader. It's always an adventure and I love the fact that there are two distinctly different sides to the Nightwalker world that quite literally have been oblivious to the existence of the other, and it's Kat who ultimately helps them discover each other.

This made for a great read (5 stars all the way!

Forged by Jacquelyn Frank is not story that you just read, somehow the author sucks you into it so you experienced it along with the characters. I know this first hand, because the first chapter just swept me up into it, falling in love with the characters and their story. Ahnvil makes a captivating and fascinating gargoyle. Then, with Katrina, there was an immediate identification with her, understanding perfectly how she feels living alone in a remote area but she is strong enough to do it anyway. From there the story of Katrina and Ahnvil takes off and never slows down. In fact, the way they meet has been done before in books, but Ms. Frank just does it better. She is able to paint the world of this story with her words. It is so very well written, so that it is very easy to see each scene happening in the mind’s eye.
While this is part of a series (that I have read), I think it is still capable of being a stand-alone. Be forewarned however, Forged will make you want to read all the stories not just in the World of Nightwalkers but back to the very start of the Nightwalkers with Jacob.
This author, Ms. Frank consistently writes compelling, emotional-packed paranormal stories. Forged is an example of that very thing. Highly recommend.

When Katrina Haynes discovers a large man lying wounded in the snow, she fears he is at death’s door. But as Kat tends to his injuries, she quickly realizes that they’re the least of her worries. With an irresistible Scottish brogue and a strange ability to harden his chiseled body like a statue, the stranger awakens a desire she is unable to resist—and a fascination about the intriguing world he exists in.

Now that was from the synopsis of the book but it sums up the beginning to this book very well so I repeated it BUT the thing that is mentioned no place is that this is actually book #4 in this series and I read it as book #1. It was still great ...

The book does not "require" you to have read the previous books but as I got into it deeper I could see there was some history that I was missing between some of the characters.

This is a lusty romance between Anhvil and Kat. While I loved the story I thought the "lusty" part on Anhvil was too alpha and WAY too possessive even if there was a bit of a reason for it. he owed some people an apology at the end of the book and they never got it as far as the reader knew.

The action was done pretty well, the development of Kat from a small frightened woman to a much stronger one was the best part of the book but I gave it four stars because the ending seemed a bit incomplete, the author resolved the romance but much of the other interactions with other secondary characters that were part of the book were left undone IMHO.

This book should’ve been titled Forged in Stockholm Syndrome. Our hero Ahnvil spent the first half of the book coming off as brutish and rapey, yet for some reason I don’t understand Kat seemed to find this sexy. I can understand her initially taking him in, he was severely wounded, she is medical professional, and there was a major storm on the way. I get that he is a Gargoyle and they are part beast and therefore lusty, however they are also supposed to be protectors of all things innocent, so you’d think a woman’s virtue would be aligned with their mission. Most of the first half of the book consisted of Ahnvil feeling up Kat, her telling him to stop, and him telling her he knows what she needs. For some reason he (and the author) didn’t understand that there can be a physical response to unwanted sexual advances, so just because the body reacts doesn’t mean the mind is for it. And even though he did not sexually assault her, he did physically. attack her leaving her badly bruised. I get that he was sick and all, but why didn’t her instincts kick in. There was a lot of describing how huge he was and how petite she is, so its not like she could’ve taken him in a fight even if he was human. She should’ve been running from him the first chance she got, and there was more than one chance for her to flee, yet she stuck with him. Although he did redeem himself a bit later on, I never liked him and was creeped out by him the entire book.

The good news is we finally get to see how magical beings that live for centuries could not know about each other. For some reason the behavior of the hero’s and heroine’s of The World of the Nightwalkers has not been good, even the breeds. Bodywalkers, more like Bodysnatchers. However it seems that future books will include beloved characters from The Nightwalkers, and hopefully the author will drift back to the original 6 breeds.
