Book Description

July 14, 2009

From the acclaimed author of Gucci Gucci Coo and Apocalipstick comes a funny, sexy novel about questionable engagements—and a love worthy perhaps of the big screen.

Florist Abby Crompton has a knack for arranging the most exquisite bouquets for the hippest clientele. If only her personal life could run as smoothly. Although her fiancé, Toby, proposed a month ago, Abby’s still waiting for the ring. An up-and-coming lawyer, Toby’s been far too busy to shop—let alone muster the energy for romance. If that wasn’t frustrating enough, the night she’s supposed to meet her future mother-in-law, Abby gets stuck in an elevator—with a sexy stranger bearing fine wine. Needless to say, a tipsy Abby arrives late for dinner and doesn’t make the best impression.

In the aftermath of the dinner disaster, Abby is thrilled to learn that a film studio wants to use her shop in an upcoming movie. But when she meets the director, Dan, she’s shocked to discover that he’s none other than the same man with whom she shared the elevator—and some highly personal information. Now, with Toby putting in more overtime, Abby’s feeling even more neglected. And her attraction to Dan is growing daily—as her own life begins to mirror the romantic comedy he’s shooting.

Featuring an irrepressible heroine, Forget Me Knot blooms with charm, wit, and fun.

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

This fluffy Brit romance lopes along at a leisurely pace and provides a pleasant journey over the rocky shoals of mismatched love, enduring loyalties and improbably happy endings. Margolis, a master of cutesy titles (Apocalipstick), focuses on business-and-trend-savvy London florist Abby Crompton, who, true to genre form, has a gaggle of quaint acquaintances and relationship woes. She's engaged, but things with Toby aren't quite picture-perfect, and a disastrous dinner with her snooty mom-in-law-to-be leads to a flameout. Rebound Dan, a filmmaker who falls for Abby on first meet (it involves a stuck elevator and an inebriated Abby), is nearly cast aside for keeping parts of his background from the once-burned, twice-shy Abby. Dan proves far wiser than the chip-on-her-shoulder girl from Croydon. Light and quippy, Margolis's newest is perfectly agreeable. (Aug.)

4.0 out of 5 stars lighthearted amusing British chick lit romance, July 18, 2009
This review is from: Forget Me Knot (Paperback)
In Islington, Fabulous Flowers florist Abby Crompton runs her business quite successfully, but not so her personal life. Her fiance Honorable Toby Kenwood proposed a month ago, but has so far failed to provide her with an engagement ring.

However, she soon fails the mommy test when she meets her future mother-in-law the Dowager Lady Penelope Kenwood at Covenant Gardens though Toby forgives her for being tipsy. Abby had become soused when stuck on a lift with stranger; film director Rebound Dan who supplied her with the wine and wants to include Fabulous Flowers in a London based romantic comedy he is making. They hit it off, but he conceals some important details about his life especially his past. Having been toasted once though still engaged, Abby considers ending her rebound relationship, but Dan remains persistent.

FORGET ME KNOT is a lighthearted amusing British chick lit romance starring a likable heroine surrounded by eccentrics and more eccentrics (Islington seems like the capital of eccentricity). The story line is fun and breezy as Abby struggles between two men while wondering how her not any longer stay at home mom would handle each of her huggables. This is a fun inane frolic that never goes deep into the star, but fans of Sue Margolis will relish the cast's antics.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible!, January 25, 2012
This review is from: Forget Me Knot (Paperback)
What a terrible read! I always enjoy the occasional chick-lit book when well written ,but this one is beyond bad. It starts off great, but is so badly written and just plain stupid- for lack of a more poetic word, that it turns out to be a big disappointment at the end. Do yourself a favor and pass this one by.

This is a fun story, albeit a little ridiculous in that something like this would never happen... but then again that's why we read this sort of fiction right?
Flower shop owner (woman)with neuroses works through relationships to find the right man, the right fit and sorts herself out in every way in the process. If I say anymore it would require a spoiler alert. It's light and has some genuinely funny moments. I've read quite a few of Sue Margolis' books and enjoyed this one along with the others. The story was entertaining and it definitely kept me wanting to turn the pages and see what would happen next.
