PreSchool-K–Monty, a little elephant, has been told by his mother to always stay with the herd and to never forget that she loves him. She tells him about the forget-me-nots that bloom after it rains on the African plains and help elephants remember. When Monty strays to investigate a blue pail that he thinks might be a forget-me-not, he gets lost. He encounters a flock of flamingos, a mob of meerkats, and a colony of termites, all of whom inform him that rain is coming and he should go home quickly. The lonely elephant then remembers what his mother had told him and continues to search until he is reunited with his herd. When he awakes the next day after the rain, the plains are covered with blue flowers, which the elephants eat, and Monty never forgets again. Not one to forget!,

"Forget Me Not" by Michael Broad is another with the author/illustrator combo, and again I found a few lines that I cut out to spare myself some repetition. This book is published by Barron's Press, which features books that are educational in nature. This one introduces terms like colonies, mobs and herds. The artistry combines soft, petaled flowers against the textured, crumpled brown-paper-bag-looking skin to draw in the eye and stand back amazed at the process. Themes of security and using caution also are carried through in this story.
