Do you like Peter Gabriel, Susan Vega & William Orbit?,
This review is from: Forget Yourself (W/Dvd) (Audio CD)
I love this record. East meets West in an album spanning pop, techno, ballad and modern rock genres. "All The Days of My Life" epitomizes the record with asian influences and a driving techno beat. "Forget Yourself" is a huge anthem. Songs like "Timeless" and "Courage and Grace" are beautiful, quiet ballads. This record is unapologetically idealistic. It's something you can listen to alone or with your entire family.

Agnes Chan has always been held up to me as the archetypal good quality Hong Kong girl. Even after all these decades, she still exudes the same good quality with nothing saccharine or false. All I remember of her is glossy images inserted in Thirteen Dot comics so I picked up this English language album and after listening to the first song, I am very happy that she made the album. It's not possible for me to honestly dislike her album but she's from a preceding generation and listening to her, makes me think about how precious the outlook of my elders are, how fortunate they were to have been able to grow up a certain way. I like this album and if you buy this album from this review, then I won't feel guilty about being a wrongful influence but I enjoy it for more than as a musical experience.

I discovered this album by accident. It's really good. I really like her remake of Fleetwood Mac's Beautiful Child. I think it should be a top 40 hit.
