This review is from: Forget the night: Awakening in a memory of incest (Hardcover)
The book outlines the family dynamics of sexual abuse and one can understand the anguish a victim of incest is in when exposed to this kind of trauma. What really stood out to me was the dilemma that arises when there is no-one to turn to and the psychological harm that this causes. The long-term effects are devastating and I was encouraged by the human spirit's amazing ability to heal and help others also struggling with the ill of incest. In particular, the way we were made by God to protect our own being, despite the ongoing abuse, is again just testimony of our resilience as human beings. A must read for anyone who wants to understand the family dynamics surrounding incest.

Past Executive Director, The Healing Woman Foundation, Inc.Forget The Night by Leona Tockey is an absolutely incredible book about how repressed memories can and do happen! Written as a novel, Forget The Night makes it easy to understand that which textbooks present as a complex, controversial phenomenon. Within the ordinary life of young Jenny, one can follow what Jenny thinks about things that are supposed to be kept secret. As the story unfolds, it is obvious how the "secret" effects every aspect of Jenny's life - from interactions with family and friends to her physical, emotional and spiritual well being.
