Book Description

Formerly "FORGOTTEN VOWS"

“Maggie Shayne's books have a permanent spot on my keeper shelf. Her wonderful stories combine romance with page-turning thrills, and I highly recommend her to any fan of romantic suspense.”
–#1 NY Times Bestselling Author, Karen Robards

Ash is a slightly claustrophobic investigative reporter on the trail of a serial killer. But he’s getting too close. After an attempt on his life he's pretending to have amnesia in hopes of delaying his own demise long enough to catch the Syracuse Slasher.

Joey is a psychic with a penchant for caving and a vested interest in catching the same murderer. She had a vision that his next victim would be her own sister. She’ll do anything to prevent that. That’s why she's pretending to be Ash's wife. He won’t know the difference, right? He has amnesia. (Not.)

Neither can admit the truth, nor deny the attraction that flares from their first meeting.

This was Maggie Shayne’s first Romantic Thriller, a genre in which she’s won numerous awards since. Fans of Miss Congeniality and The Heat (thrillers with female protagonists) will love this sexy page-turner.

“This fast-paced romantic suspense is sure to keep readers up all night with spines that tingle, hearts that race, and spirits that soar.”
–The Gothic Journal

Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

When psychic Joey Bradshaw tries to save her sister's life by pretending to be the wife of journalist (and supposed amnesia victim) Ashe Coye, he knows she's lying but doesn't know why. Intrigued, he plays along-and ends up in love and almost killed by the serial killer they are both seeking. Fast-paced action, engaging characters, and a high degree of sexual tension keep the reader involved despite the relatively obvious solution to the primary mystery. Readers who enjoy reading romantic suspense by Shayne (Kiss of the Shadow Man, Silhouette, 1994) might also enjoy Tracey Tillis's Deadly Masquerade (Dell, 1994) and recent books by Nora Roberts. [Shayne lives in South Otselic, New York.]

5.0 out of 5 stars Vintage Maggie Shayne! May 4, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I've been a long-time fan and reader of Maggie Shayne's books--pretty sure I've bought just about every one she's ever published. I am so pleased to see what I call "Vintage Maggie" being released as ebooks for my Kindle. FORGOTTEN VOWS is one of the reasons I fell in love with Maggie's stories, along with MIRANDA'S VIKING and the one titled DR DUFFY'S CLOSE ENCOUNTER. Beautiful covers, by the way. I'm enjoying re-reading these and remembering that giddiness of having found a new fav author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Remembering how good it is! May 3, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Maggie Shayne's FORGOTTEN VOWS is back, and how lucky for those who missed the opportunity to read it the first time around. This story grabbed me from page one and I loved the blend of humor and suspense and the hunky, hunky hero. Maggie Shayne's books are always a pleasure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thrilling adventure! May 17, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I loved "Forgotten Vows". It's everything I adore about romantic suspense - a pulse-pounding thrill ride with lots of suspects. Ash and Joey are made for each other! The premise of the amnesia/pretend wife, and the psychic vibes, really rocked this story to well above average. I missed this book the first time around, so I'm glad this got published again. Thanks, Maggie!

5.0 out of 5 stars It's called a "classic" for good reason.. May 17, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I have been reading Maggie Shayne's novels for years and am always impressed with her writing style. FORGOTTEN VOWS is a very gripping novel. I was pleased to find myself repeatedly chuckling as I read sections of the book. The characters are well developed and easy to relate to. I have never read a Maggie Shayne novel/novella/short story that I didn't like.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book! July 23, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This is the perfect book for those that like mysteries with a bit of romance thrown in. I was a little sceptical at first about the whole fake amnesia/fake marriage thing but this book was so much more than that. Its not a on the edge of your seat type mystery but it will definately keep you guessing for quite awhile.....This is definately a book I would read again.

5.0 out of 5 stars again one of my favorites May 17, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
When I started this book I had every intention on going slow reading it. HA FAT CHANCE, I couldn't put it down, Its such a page turner I finished it in a day. I usually figure out who the killer or villian is in these types of books really quickly, she did suck a good job with keeping me guessing I loved it, its up there with my favorites.
