Review

"Kudos to Manny on his historical and Hollywood knowledge, as well as, the immense amount of research conducted.  It's well written, reflecting a definitive passion for the subject matter."
--David C. Loya, President, VISION4MEDIA

"I love this book! I wish Manny all the continued success he deserves..."
--Jeff Bordner, Emmy-winning national voice actor. Credits include HARD COPY / PUPPY BOWL

"Forgotten Hollywood Forgotten History teaches how to experience history through Hollywood films and provides the author's studies of motion pictures to show how history has been represented through Hollywood's images. It focuses on the character actresses and actors who have delivered solid performances and reviews timeless films that have captured American history on screen. Any film library will find this a lively survey."
-- MIDWEST BOOK REVIEW, July 2011

"Forgotten Hollywood Forgotten History is a fascinating look at the roots of modern-day cinema. I enjoyed learning more about some of my favorite actors, such as Basil Rathbone and Claude Rains, and discovering actors who had just been names to me. While I was familiar with Lionel Barrymore, his disability and the way he performed around it and led the way for other disabled performers was a revelation. Whether you are a classic movie buff or simply curious about this book, I think you'll be pleased."

From the Author

"I tell seldom-told tales, a reflection of America's story experienced through the eyes of character actors of Hollywood's Golden Age.  Great films as Captain's Courageous,  Stagecoach, and It's a Wonderful Life (among others) should never be forgotten. Neither should the impressive work of Arthur Miller, Tennessee Williams, Paddy Chayefsky, or Eugene O'Neill.

The fabric of our collective past has a shared cinematic and historical relationship. It's part of our unique education of what we call... The Humanities."

This book had some interesting notes in it but was not what I had expected. It combined Hollywood actors with political and period historical events that were made into movies or that took place during the time of the making of movies. There were some interesting things, but overall I was let down as to it's contents. Instead of rare pictures of Hollywood stars or unknowns, there were copies and sketches of political figures and, in some cases, printed materials such as telegrams and uninteresting items. These seemed to be used as fillers as the author did not have anything else to add. I had hoped it was a book about Hollywood, not history in general.

Brief, but informative account of Hollywood history. Not for the serious scholar, but better for an informed layperson with an
interest in some little known history of Hollywood.

Forgotten Hollywood Forgotten History is a beautifully crafted book, filled with photos and stories of Hollywood's Golden Age. You will be enchanted with the stories Pacheco shares as he takes you on a tour of forgotten Hollywood. Very nicely done, this is a perfect gift for the Hollywood fan in your life. In fact, I know that Hollywood buffs love this book, because a radio colleague borrowed my copy after seeing it on my desk, and I haven't seen it since! :-)

I read Forgotten Hollywood Forgotten History, and loved every page. where was this book when I was in Film History class in college? Stories and anecdotes throughout on famous character actors, tied together with bits and pieces of US History.

This book is a necessary piece of any look at the valued history behind many of the movies we all love. I find myself constantly reading and rereading various chapters throughout.
