Book Description

September 8, 2009
Nothing grabs the mind like a finely crafted film. Memorable lines strike an instant impression, and classic imagery provides celluloid art for us to enjoy time and again. Manny Pacheco has studied motion pictures and the stars of yesteryear; and he presents a review of timeless films, which also uniquely capture seldom told accounts of Americana. Bypassing the legendary stars from the Studio Era's Golden Age, Forgotten Hollywood Forgotten History focuses on the character actors and actresses that consistently delivered stellar performances, and it offers a bold fresh new take of our human journey.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Kudos to Manny on his historical and Hollywood knowledge, as well as, the immense amount of research conducted.  It's well written, reflecting a definitive passion for the subject matter."
--David C Bojorquez, President, VISION4MEDIA

"I love this book! I wish Manny all the continued success he deserves..."
--Jeff Bordner, Emmy-winning national voice actor. Credits include HARD COPY and PUPPY BOWL

From the Author

"I tell seldom-told tales, a reflection of America's story experienced through the eyes of character actors of Hollywood's Golden Age including Claude Rains, Walter Brennan, Van Heflin, Hattie McDaniel, and Basil Rathbone. Great films as Captain's Courageous,  Stagecoach, and It's a Wonderful Life (among others) should never be forgotten. Neither should the impressive work of Arthur Miller, Tennessee Williams, Paddy Chayefsky, or Eugene O'Neill.

The fabric of our collective past has a shared cinematic and historical relationship. It's part of our unique education of what we call... The Humanities."

Brief, but informative account of Hollywood history. Not for the serious scholar, but better for an informed layperson with an

interest in some little known history of Hollywood.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hollywood Fans will Love this Book!, August 22, 2010
This review is from: Forgotten Hollywood Forgotten History (Paperback)
Forgotten Hollywood Forgotten History is a beautifully crafted book, filled with photos and stories of Hollywood's Golden Age. You will be enchanted with the stories Pacheco shares as he takes you on a tour of forgotten Hollywood. Very nicely done, this is a perfect gift for the Hollywood fan in your life. In fact, I know that Hollywood buffs love this book, because a radio colleague borrowed my copy after seeing it on my desk, and I haven't seen it since! :-)

3.0 out of 5 stars Forgotten Hollywood Forgotten History, March 7, 2011

This review is from: Forgotten Hollywood Forgotten History (Paperback)
This book had some interesting notes in it but was not what I had expected. It combined Hollywood actors with political and period historical events that were made into movies or that took place during the time of the making of movies. There were some interesting things, but overall I was let down as to it's contents. Instead of rare pictures of Hollywood stars or unknowns, there were copies and sketches of political figures and, in some cases, printed materials such as telegrams and uninteresting items. These seemed to be used as fillers as the author did not have anything else to add. I had hoped it was a book about Hollywood, not history in general.
