A bit uneaven and dull, but not without its moments,

First of all, that 5-star rating is to counterbalance the idiot who gave the album 2 stars simply because Amazon had no samples up yet; I would have given this album 3 stars if not for that.
The score itself is a mixed bag that often sounds more like Mark Snow than James Horner, and it counterbalances a melodic yet uneasy main theme with a liberal dose of metal clangs and electronics. The electronics are very harsh, and the tracks that feature them can be nigh unlistenable because of it. Still, though, that main theme is addicitve, and is worthy of being put on a compilation somewhere. This album is probably for fans of the movie and fans of James Horner only.

Original, if not that memorable,

For those expecting the same, repetitive lush orchestration that Horner is both praised for, and criticized for as self-plagiarizing, you won't find any of that here. The score is a blend of minimalist orchestra ensembles, samples and electronics. Often droning, and a bit dark or harsh at times.
So, on the plus side, it's quite original. The closest score he's done perhaps being Flightplan, which was more active and even more dissonant, so that's good. The negative is that you're likely to listen to the CD once or twice, not have a mental place or time you'll listen to it again, and find it sitting on the shelf as nothing memorable.

When I listened to the music in the movie i thought it was pretty good! James Horner is one of the BEST composers! I like hearing his music very much even if people dont like his repetitiveness. Get use to it and listen to great music.
