Book Description

Sycamore Heights, where everyone keeps a deadly secret.

Katrina Harvey has just enrolled into the senior class of Sycamore Heights High along with her foster sister, Jessica Sinclair. Unfortunately Katrina is no ordinary enrollee as ten months previously she was brutally attacked and has been left with amnesia.

Almost a year after those horrific events took place Katrina is being stalked by someone, or something, who doesn't want her to remember her past and will do anything to keep it that way.

Moving to a new town is never easy, as Suzanne Harvey is well aware, but focused on finding her older sister, Katrina, fate has led her to Sycamore Heights. Now, as Suzanne gets closer to revealing secrets from the past, someone from the present doesn't like what she could unearth, even if that means they drive her to the brink of insanity to keep the secrets forgotten.

5.0 out of 5 stars Vampires and werewolves and sisters, oh my! June 26, 2012
By Michael
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
A friend recommended this book to me as I wanted to read something that had a paranormal theme, but without all the romance that those novels are known for. I'd say this book delivered on what I wanted for the most part. It wasn't too heavy going, it was partly based in the 90s (a decade I grew up in and feel nostalgic about), and there was enough action to keep me turning the pages.

On the other hand, by the time I'd finished it I was left feeling that there were still some loose ends and I wasn't sure about the cliffhanger ending. I'm glad it says it's Book One as that implies there's more to come, and I'll definitely be checking out the next book whenever its released so I can find out what happens next to the two main characters. All in all though, it was a bit of fun escapism for a few hours and that's the main thing for me

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice concept, but bad execution February 10, 2013

Get an editor, please! It is frustrating reading a book as poorly written as this. 1. Get a dictionary. 2. Use it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Forgotten is forgetable November 27, 2012

Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I don't typically review books, but for what ever reason here I am. I was disapointed in this book. I felt that it had potential, however it was lacking in many ways. I typically once starting a book will finish it no matter what, though with this book that is not the case. I was able to get through about 80% and that is about it. The character developement is lacking. There is a lot of dialog between characters that, in my opinion is unneeded and is used as fillers. I think there is a lot left out and is done as an atttempt to be suspensful to keep you interested so you will want to find out what and why events are happening(since I did not read the last bit I imagine there is more explination). I found the writing too simplistic and got the feeling that this is the author's fist novel.

I will admit that I like young adult sci fi/PA books even though I do not fall into that catagory myself, but I felt that this book would may be be for tweens instead.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun story, but it doesn't end with this book. November 26, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I enjoyed reading this story, but keep in mind that it is the first in a series so it does end with questions and a cliffhanger or two.

Book One focuses mostly on character development with primary emphasis on the main character, Katrina, who suffers from amnesia. Although she has no idea who she was before, her past is gradually revealed through dreams and flashbacks (but I won't say any more about those, too many spoilers). Hostile supernatural enemies, unknown past, a lost sister that haunts her dreams, what more could you want?

If you like reading about young people, vampires, werewolves and mystery, you'll probably enjoy this book.

Again, this is the first in a series and is not a standalone book, but that didn't stop me from enjoying it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Ok Book but... November 25, 2012
By sue
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book was ok. The only complaint was everything was left up in the air. I am not fond of books that leave so many unanswered questions. The book spent alot of time, sometimes confusing, to get you to know everyone then leaves you hanging.

More About the Author

Catherine Gardiner was born and raised next to rolling green meadows in Yorkshire, England where she resides with her beloved border collie. When she is not writing she is either researching for her upcoming novels, taking photographs, cooking or going for long leisurely walks along a nearby river. She first conceived the idea for her novels when she was doing a creative writing course in college and had to walk home alone through a wood where she often imagined what might be in the shadows. She also thinks her love of writing and her passion for all things creative is due to her Irish roots.
