Editorial Reviews

Review

"Throughout the text, which is informative and seems well researched, are black boxes of pure opinion offered by automotive designer Frank Stephenson, who's got chops creating cars large and small, fast and not so. The history and tech specs provided by Codling give historical context to the designs. The opinions and design-speak provided by Stephenson give the reader an insider's view of design. But the pictures provided by James Mann are show-stoppers." - About.com

I love this book. The photography is terrific and the text, while not much, is interesting to read, though I don't think you'd really buy it for the text because it's so gorgeous to look at. I couldn't have asked for a better book on supercars, since it contains many of my favorite supercars which are often ignored, such as the BMW M1, Aston DB4GT Zagato, Maserati MC12 and Bizzarrini Strada. I think the Ariel Atom was unnecessary, perhaps replaced with the Bugatti EB110, Jaguar XKSS or Ferrari F50, but still it's a great book.

You could easily mix this book in others covering art or design at the poshest function. It will fool and lure many critics that normally snub the work as low classe.

I got this for my cousin as a Christmas gift. He opened it last night and he was so excited. He loves cars, especially fast cars. I know nothing about cars. All i know is he couldn't stop smiling, was flipping through all the pages quickly, spewing off all these facts about the cars that he saw in the book. Then he headed straight home to read the book carefully. So i am basing my review on his reaction. He gave me 5 different hugs and kept saying thank you. He's a 30 yr old man!
The photos are very nice and artistic. It makes a good coffee table book. It's quite large. According to my cousin, the book included some cars that just came out recently(writing this review 12-25-11).
