I've seen The Format a hand full of times and they've been fantastic every time. This DVD is the next best thing to seeing them live it does a fantastic job at capturing how amazing and energetic their live shows are.

I just saw fun. play live in my hometown and while I am a huge fan, it just made me miss The Format that much more. This DVD of The Format live at the Mayan theater takes me back to the good old days. Not only is it a great performance, but it also takes you on a journey behind the scenes with intimate peaks of and conversations with the band members. A great piece of art work this DVD, and a lasting memory of a fantastically talented band.

almost better than on CD,
This review is from: The Format: Live at the Mayan Theatre (DVD)
I have never had opportunity to see The Format live, but this certainly makes up for it. I love both Interventions and Lullabies and Dog Problems. Live at the Mayan is just fantastic. For this particular concert they used many musicians to capture all the nuances of the album, and the finished product is beautiful. The band plays through all of Dog Problems, a lot of Interventions and Lullabies, and a new song called "Swans". They have great guest musicians as well, including Jim Adkins from Jimmy Eat World. There is also a great behind the scenes documentary about the making of the concert. This is well worth the money, and is highly enjoyable!
