Sweater Shaver,

I have ordered five sweater shavers from donner springs for myself and as gifts. This is by far the best sweater shaver I have ever owned. It makes all my old sweaters look brand new again. I have saved hundred of dollars on purchasing new sweaters by using the shaver and recycling my old sweaters. It is a definite have for any closet. The only draw back is that you can't get new blades for this sweater shaver.

The best sweater shaver I've ever used,

I've been using sweater shavers for decades. I have a small really cheap one that works fine. It sometimes snags up but it works fine. I also have one about as large as the Izumi, but it uses C or maybe even D batteries and weighs about 4 times as much as the Izumi. It also works fine.
BUT, the Izumi does the job at least 4 times faster and its construction is way more sturdy than either of these cheaper ones. If you want a serious sweater shaver, this is it. It's pricy, but works really great. (I'm giving away my old ones.)

I have had some cheap sweater shavers before that haven't worked worth crap. I recently was going through my closet and found about 10 sweaters that were in danger of being thrown out due to pilling and looking horrible. I got on Amazon, looked for the sweater shaver with the best reviews, and purchased it. It works, people, it really works. Many of the sweaters that I was going to have to throw out look almost brand new. The shaver was a bit pricey in my opinion, but once I saw how many sweaters I saved I felt it was SO worth it!

I suspect I fell for the hype on this one. It has good reviews and I did worry that maybe those reviews were written by company representatives, but bought it anyway. I carefully read all of the reviews for similar products. I now suspect all of these similar-looking sweater shavers have the same problems and are of similar quality. I had to go over and over the same area to get the sweater fluff balls off. And even then, the area did not look perfect when I was finished. My best bet is that the sweater shavers that are far less expensive do the exact same job. This is no wonder sweater shaver, and I made a mistake in buying it. I wish I had opted for the ones that were half the price of this one.

Fantastic sweater shaver,

This is the most expensive sweater shaver I found but I decided to purchase it because it's a Japanese product and the reviews here were very good. This shaver is *fantastic* and worth every penny. I haven't stopped shaving things since it arrived. I've shaved sweaters, cheap fleece, dresses, pants, cotton shirts & skirts, and all of my socks. My old sweaters look new. I shaved the insides of socks, pants, and sweaters and they feel so much softer. I've shaved so much that I had to purchase new blades. If you have a lot of clothing to shave I recommend using rechargeable batteries. Caution: you do have to be pay attention and be careful. I snagged one of my sweaters a couple of times because I was watching tv and not looking at the sweater. It's best to work in bright light on a hard surface.

Works Great!,

This is a follow up to a negative review on the similar Smartek pill remover (which didn't work at all and we returned immediately). The Izumi works very well. We tried the Izumi on the same sweaters as the Smartek and the Izumi it worked very well. It took about 10 minutes to do the most difficult sweater. It has a few ways to adjust the "sensitivity", simply the closeness to the fabric. A twist on the platic cover or for very close operation, simply remove the platic cover. Very satisfied!!

I'm still not entirely convinced that all of the reviews up here are real, but this shaver does indeed plough right through mountains of fuzz that the six-dollar cheapies at Bed Bath & Beyond cannot. Is this little hunk of flimsy plastic worth what they're charging? Almost certainly not, but it does deliver results, and you can't argue with that. Just make sure you use rechargeable batteries because the motor will suck them dry pretty quickly.

I agonized over whether to buy this sweater shaver. I read all the Amazon reviews. The thing that swayed my decision was that I am a knitter and many handknit items pill pretty badly, so I use a sweater shaver a lot, because I knit sweaters and wear them all the time. I have also broken probably four of those $8 shavers you get at Michael's or JoAnn Fabrics, and I was so frustrated. I've had the shaver for a few months now and it works great. I shaved a few sweaters last night, and realized, "I'm not worried right now! This isn't going to break. It actually works." So that's what I wanted to share with you all. It doesn't jump out of a cake or do a dance or anything, so after spending $50 it might seem anticlimactic when you receive the shaver, shave a sweater or two, go, "Oh, it works," and put it away. But I'll never have to buy another sweater shaver again and all my garments look fresh and new, so I'm very happy with my purchase.

Very Satisfied,

I have used several cheaply made sweater shavers before, but none did the job. However, this shaver works really well, and I have "shaved" all my old tired looking sweaters including my cashmere sweaters. They now look like new. I am so glad that I bought this shaver. I saved a lot of money by not throwing away my old sweaters.

Didn't want to spend this much on a pill shaver, but all the others I've tried were puny and underpowered or didn't work at all. Gotta say, this one does work. I've used it on merino wool sweaters (some are my special sweaters, so I was hesitant), wool and silk sweaters, cotton shirts and some older cotton sateen pillowcases with lower thread count per inch. All look tons better and definitely more wearable/usable now. The extra cost is worth it....
