5.0 out of 5 stars Drive carefully your brakes are wearing unevenly! December 20, 1999

Durability: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Your pulse is pounding and there are butterflies in your stomach as you sit on the starting line, engine revving, as your wait for the red lights to go out. Are you happy with your car's set-up? Have you planned your pit strategy? Are soft tires the best choice for this track? You have qualified well and are sixth on the grid. Around you are some of the finest race drivers in the world. The last light goes out and you press your foot to the floorboard, feeling your 700hp. machine leap forward. Hang on because driving a machine with a weight less than that of a mini and with all this power isn't going to be a drive in the park. The simulation is amazing but I advise utilizing all the features. FULL length racing on all the circuits with fuel consumption and tire wear ON. Also get the full experience by driving from the cockpit. Outside car views are for wimps!

5.0 out of 5 stars Formula 1 '99 - Finally up to par February 29, 2000

Compared to last years version this one blows it away! There are still the same problems with the game not being competitive enough on most tracks (except for Monaco). The sound effects and graphics are great along with the nice replay program that lets you change camera angles.
With this game I find myself taking it easy on the brakes most of the time...if you don't the vehicle has a tendancey to lock up and you'll end up in the kitty litter or the wall!
Damage is fairly reasonable...there is no flipping but you can damage you car enough to retire from the race.
Overall: Great game! Throw out last years because you'll never play it again.

This game is great fun for fans of racing games, or open wheel racing. With lots of options to set, you can make the game to be as arcade like, or as real(within reason)as you wish. This game will provide you with hundreds of hours of entertainment. The racing is very challenging because you are running the same class of car as the AI racers. All in all a very well done game, however the car/track physics are not quite as real as GT2.
